The World on Their Shoulders

The U.S.A. fleet received a call later that afternoon about the subjects and how the progress was going. They'd received it from the Council, which held the high vote over all of Earth. This was decided after several world wars, civil wars, fights for power, and traitorous deeds. While the countries were free to rule themselves and own what they wanted, they still had to answer to the Council or suffer consequences of no limit.

Being truthful in their studies, the U.S.A. fleet had backup sent in and were patched in on the progress of other countries. Russia, China, and Japan were among America's power, if not greater, and possessed subjects more lethal than theirs. They had war machines. Embryos stripped from their maternal figure and modified into killing machines, new assembly workers, teachers, astrologists, astronauts. Genetic modification led to so many new discoveries.

Failure happened. It devastated lesser countries, who were soon forced to join other countries and give up their land and research or die with it.

America gathered troops from Japan and China to aid them in battle, including some of their own modified subjects. The ones from Japan were adorned with samurai clothing and armour, kabuki masks, or demon-related parts. Chinese subjects were dressed in fully red and black battle kimonos made of material that reinforced its ability to be bulletproof. The generals wore flashy red and white battle armour, traditional Chinese warrior style, and wielded large swords, guns, or javelins. The Japanese wielded katanas, chakrams, and guns.

Each fleet came prepared with their best men and women, ready to fight and die.

All of this for some kids who escaped to a planet half of them shouldn't be on.

"What?" came the confused, strained yell.

It came again.

"Sir, Test Subject 297 has killed those who went into its cage and escaped. We've got sight of it but not for long."

"Set up a front line, form around and behind, and keep half of our whole here to defend. We don't know what 297 is planning," came the swift reply. "General Biyu, General Hisato. I trust you know what to do."

Nods and orders followed.

A war was to come, but none of them knew what they were up against. The attackers sat right under their noses and even they weren't aware yet.
