It wasn't long until the first day of school for Melody began.

I finished setting her and Alice breakfast as they got ready upstairs and I set the plates of eggs and bacon on the table as Melody came downstairs, dressed in her uniform and brown combat boots, hair combed neatly and pulled back a little with a hairclip.

"Good morning," she greeted in a bit of a sleepy tone.

"Good morning, sleepy," I laughed as I hugged her. "Come on, eat up."

She walked over and took a seat, starting to eat as Alice walked in, dressed as well.

"Good morning," she smiled as she kissed me and then hugged Melody from behind before sitting down as I got my food and joined them.

"Mel, you excited for your first day?" I asked.

"A little," she said. "I'm more nervous though..."

"About what, sweetheart?" Alice asked.

"Well, I mean... What if someone is mean to me?" she asked.

"Well, there will always be mean people everywhere," I said. "But if they bother you, don't let them get to you. They just want you to feel bad over nothing."

She looked up and took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay..."

"Whatever happens, just give me a call," I said.

She nodded as she continued to eat.

Once we were done we put the dishes in the dishwashers, got our things, and left.

We arrived at the school gates and Melody got her bag and violin case and we head to the office.

The school Melody is attending, Athena Heights Academy is an all girl's school, but one behind it, Saint Bernard's Prepratory, is an all boys school.

"Good morning," I greeted. "My daughter is starting her first day today."

"Hello," the reception woman greeted. "What is her name?"

"Melody Ferguson," I said as Melody walked over and observed the trophy cabinet nearby, Alice with her.

The woman looked in the computer and nodded. "Alright, here. Melody Antoinette Ferguson, starting Grade 9, also in our music program," She said. "Let me get her time tables and paperwork printed, and call a student guide for her."

"Thank you," I nodded as we waited for her to get Melody's things in order.

"Just gotta wait for a few papers. Are you still nervous?" I asked her as I walked up to her and Alice.
