*Melody*

"This is an amazing opportunity, though," Tahlia said happily as we sat at the swings in the park near her house. "I'm really happy for you, Melody."

"Thank you," I smiled. "Though I admit, I am nervous of what is to come for me and my father."

Tahlia has continued being by my side all this time, and I also have my other friends at school.

However, the bond between Tahlia and I is positively a bit stronger.

Everytime I'm with her, I just feel so happy and... fuzzy...

She's so kind, talented, beautiful, funny...

I don't really understand these fellings though... Only one who knpws about this is Rupert since I told him about it once, and he noticed me blushing once.

He says its called a "crush" and its common for anyone to have one.

He also told me there's a chance I may also be discovering my sexual preference.

I heard stories of the LGBTQ+ community, how its very diverse and unique and many people support it, even celebrate it. I've also heard the frightening stories of people who even get killed just for loving someone of equal gender.

I shifted nervously in my seat as I thought about it. If I really do actually like girls that way, and there's the chance of Tahlia feeling the same, I don't want her to get hurt. I could never be able to live with myself.

She's so important to me...

"Mel?" Tahlia asked.

I looked up at her nervously.

"Are you okay? You look worried," she frowned.

Maybe I should tell her... Just get it out of my chest...

"Its just.... I'm scared," I said as she got up and knelt in front of me.

"Of the project?" She frowned.

"No...." I mumbled. "My... My feelings..."

"Your feelings?" She asked, confused. "About what?"

I hesitated to answer.

"Melody, you know you can tell me anything," she said, reaching up and holding my hands.

I pursed my lips before closing my eys and taking a deep breath.

"My feeling for you," I blurted out.

She looked surprised. "F-Feelings?"

I nodded and looked down as she stayed quiet.

"You... have feelings for me?" She asked.

"I mean... Yeah," I said. "I've tried understanding them, because... I nevrr had what its called a 'crush' on anyone before.... And I don't want to scare you, or get you hurt because of my feelings so.... I'm scared..."

She gwas quiet before I then felt her take my hands again.

"Melody... Do you like girls?" She asked.

I looked up and pursed my lips.

Do I? Well... I like Tahlia... A lot... But....

Wait... there's no cons to this, only pros....

I never felt this way over a boy before.

Well... Anyone at all, but still. I never would have considered I would like girls.

Not that its a bad things. Just never really expected it in general

"I... I guess I do," I said.

"And you like... me?" She asked.

"I.... Yes," I nodded nervously.

Tahlia was quiet before she suddenly spoke. "Can I, umm... Can I try something?"

"Umm, okay," I nodded.

She then took a deep breath before she leaned her face towards mine.

I was confused at first but my eyes widen when soon her lips pressed against mine.

I was a bit surprised for a second before I felt myself relax and kiss her back.

We then both stood up and wrapped our arms around each other as we comtinued to kiss.

Sparks went off in my mind as we kissed.

This is so.... I can't even describe this feeling... But it is a good one.

We then pulled back, her brown eyes staring into my blue ones.

"That was.... Whoa," I mumbled as I felt mt cheeks get hot.

She giggled. "I've had feelings for you, too, Melody.

My eyes widen. "You do?"

"Yeah... I was just scared you would reject me," she said.

"Why would I ever reject you? You've always been by my side," I said.

She smiled as she held my hands. "I'm really glad you feel the same way, Meldoy."

I smiled and gripped back. "Me, too."

We then kissed one last time, only it was a shorter kiss than the last one.

"Does this mean we are a couple now?" I asked curiously.

She shrugged. "Only if you want to be," she said.

"Do you?" I asked.

She pursed her lips shyly, but then nodded. "Yeah."

I smiled. "Me, too."

She smiled as we then hugged each other and then something crossed my mind.

Our families...

"What about our families?" I asked.

Tahlia pulled back as she was thinking about it.

"I mean... I'm not sure... My parents believe in equality, so I don't think they'll be upset..." she said.

"I don't know if my father and Alice are though..." I said nervously.

She looked at me as she was thinking.

"Then let's wait a while before telling them. We don't have to tell them now. We can wait a while," she said.

I took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay."

She nodded and pecked my lips before looked at the distance.

"Its getting late. Let's go home and eat," she said, holding her hand out to me.

I nodded and took her hand as we started to walk back.

I hope my father isn't upset when I tell him...
