*Charles's P.O.V.*

I woke up with an unsettling feeling and in an uncomfortable position. I fluttered my eyes open to notice absolutely no light in my room. I felt my side table, feeling for the lamps switch. I flicked it but no light came. I felt my phone and grabbed it. I pointed it at the floor for light. I looked out my door to notice not a single light was light. I saw it was 4 in the morning, meaning no one would bother fixing it now.

With my uneasiness, I decided to go the library to calm myself. I have candles in there, mainly because it's better to read like that. I put on my dressing gown and made my way down the hallway, still using my phone as a light source.

As I made my way around corners and up some stairs, I started to hear shuffling. Thinking it was no more than my imagination, I continued to the library. As I turned a corner, I was utterly surprised to see the fragile shape of Talia.

"Oh god Charles," She whisper-shouted at me, hitting my arm lightly.

"What did I do? Your the one walking around a strangers house at four in the morning"

"Talking about strangers, we need to talk" She replied, crossing her arms.

I noticed the library door a few feet away. I opened it and gestured her in. She walked in and gawped with amazement at my book collection. I made my way to the centre of the room, placing some logs in the fireplace and setting them a light.

"Come. Sit down" I gestured towards one of the leather couches. She took the one nearer the window.

"So ..." I started.

"Charles ..."

"Yes?"

"Why am I here?" She seemed puzzled.

"I have an opportunity for you. I think your perfect for the job"

"Why me?"

"You needed a job. I could tell you weren't doing well with money and by the looks of your clothing you didn't have a home, or at least a decent family. Am I wrong?"

She just stared back in amazement at to how I knew so much without her telling me.

"Why were you so little on money Talia?"

She looked around the room, trying to avoid my eyes. I made my way over to her and sat down.

"Talia? You have nothing to hide from me"

She still didn't look at me. Instead she was picking at her fingers while I watched the fires reflection dancing in her eyes.

"I won't judge you Talia. I have seen, heard and witnessed the worst of human kind. I will not be surprised nor will I kick you out."

"I still don't understand why you decided to help me?"

"You were weak-" I was cut off by her frail arms around my neck. I could feel her coldness against my body as I pulled her in. She started to sob, her head on my chest. I lifted my hand and stroked her hair, my attempt at comforting her.

"Talia, it's okay ... No one can hurt you anymore"
