[Continuation]

Jessica's POV

...as I put my phone back onto the bedside table.

"Anyway," I begin. "Anything new happen at school?" I ask, curious. A sigh escapes Layla's lips as she sits cross-legged on one of the chairs next to the bed. "Only that Mr. Barn, or Vik isn't acting himself." Layla says. "Why?" I ask. My tone, sad. "I dunno," Layla shrugs. "Every time anyone asks if he's okay, he snaps." She explains. I sigh. "Maybe something happened at home?" I suggest a possible reason. "Possibly. I dunno." Layla shrugs. "Anything else?" I ask. "Not really." She sighs. "How boring." I lightly chuckle. "I know," Layla nods. "It's probably because we all miss you, Jess." Layla says. "Awe. I miss everyone too." I smile brightly.

The familiar sound of the door opening draws my attention. The familiar stature of Simon stands in the door way.

"Hello, Simon." I smile. "Hello, Jessica." Simon smiles back at me. "And hello Layla." He smiles at Layla. "Hi." She waves. "What brings you here, Si?" I ask. "You, Jess." He says. "What about me?" I ask, curious. "Well," he begins. "As you're recovering pretty quickly, you'll be able to leave earlier." He smiles. "When?" I ask, excited. "Hopefully, fingers crossed, as soon as Tuesday." He smiles.

Me and Layla cheer with excitement.

"But," Simon says. "You won't be allowed back at school. Not yet anyways." He says. "Awe!" Layla whines. "But what about class work I've missed out on?" I ask. "Jess... We've not been working... We're literally graduating in a few weeks..." Layla says. "Oh shit, yeah." I say.

"Anyway. You should be leaving Tuesday," Simon says. "Physio will begin a week after, if you've been released by then." He says. "Alrighty." I nod. "Anyway, enjoy your day." Simon smiles before walking out.

"He was acting more..." "Professional?" Layla questions. "Yeah!" I nod. "Wonder why." I sigh. "He's supposed to?" Layla chuckles. "But-" "But what, Jess?" "But - eh - doesn't matter."
