Chapter 12: Another Decision
"How long do you want to stay?" Gissel says over the phone.
"Until this is over." I say.
"Babe why didn't you tell her?"
"I..I-I just can't. And I don't plan on doing so!"
"It's been 10 weeks, Babe."
"So?"
"You're a thin girl. Don't you think your mom would've noticed that you have a small bump in your stomach? It's been 10 weeks."
"And that's why I'm going to stay at your place until I get an abortion."
"Babe you're mom will suspect."
"No she won't!" My patience is running low. I need to get out quick.
"Please Gissel!"
She hesitates.
"I hope you know what you're doing, Babe."
"Oh thanks Baby! I promise I won't be a disturbance!"
"No problem Babe. Me and my mom will be there in 20. See you soon."
I don't bother replying as I had to do something else. I ran to my computer and started to type.

Once I finished typing I printed the paper. I let it cool down as I run to my closet and pack my clothes for when I'm gone.
"This will all be over soon. This nightmare will end." I say to myself. When I finish packing I run downstairs and stop at the bottom. I look to the right and see my mother sitting criss-crossed on the sofa.
I walk to her direction and notice something. Between the sofa chairs is a small-low round table. On the table were two cups of coffee and a small plate of s'mores.
I smile.
"Mom? What time is Dad coming home?"
"In about half an hour." She flashes me a bright smile. I feel so happy until I remember why I came down here. I hand her the fake permission slip. She takes it from me and reads it.
"You really wanna go to this, Honey? I mean- we've all been waiting for months for your father to come home." Her smile suddenly faded. I gulp down the guilt and nod my head. I hand her the pen. She hesitates for a while and then decides to sign it.
"Have fun, Honey. And be safe. Call me if you need anything." Her smile returning. Only her smile didn't quite reach her eyes. I mirror her actions and go back to my room. I sigh and lay down on my bed. The wave of guilt comes back and I start crying.
My dad runs a business so he's never home. He goes around the world a lot while me, Josh, and my mom stay here waiting for him to come home. When he's here my family feels complete. It's been 8 months since my family and I had seen him. Now here he is coming back...and I will be the one gone.
