Chapter 14: Flashback pt 1

"OH MY GOD!!!!! REALLY?! LIKE SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!"

"Yes, Teresa. For the millionth time! I'm keeping it!!!" I say. She's really getting on my nerves! Stupid hormones.

"That's awesome, Aub!" Lina smiles.

"No it's not!" I shout. I take a deep breath so I can speak without yelling.

"Maybe. I don't know. I...I just hope I'm not making a mistake. And... shouldn't you guys tell me not to have this baby?"

"Yeah pero," Gissel gently says, "we'd want you to keep it because no matter what you always got us."

"We got your back." Lina adds.

"It'd be another member in our group!!!" Teresa smiles. Suddenly I start crying.

I sniffle and try speaking.

"You... guys..... are...... the best!" I begin to cry even more.

"Ya no llores, Princesa. [Don't cry, Princess]." Teresa pats my back.

"So what are we gonna do?" Lina walks to the kitchen and puts popcorn in the microwave.

"I don't know.. I hope I'm making the right decision. Maybe it's not. I don't know!" I put my head between my hands and rest my elbows on my kness.

"Are you sure you want to keep the baby?" Gissel asks.

"I don't know! I.. I..." Is keeping the baby a good thing??

"My mom says that babies are a gift." Teresa says. I know all of them are trying to reassure me but is this baby really a gift? How is this baby a gift??

I chuckle.

"I don't see how a baby and being a teen mom is a gift."

"Being an aunt might not be bad." Lina comes back with a big bowl of popcorn.

"Yeah it'll be fun!" Teresa grabs my hands and raised them up to her chest. She jumps and begins to talk about how cute babies are.

I roll my eyes.

"You know... I'm pretty exhausted. I'm going to take a nap if you don't mind, Lina."

"No go ahead, Aub. You know where the guess rooms are. Or in my room if you want."

I let my hands drop and I make my way to Lina's room. I close the door behind me.

The warm sweet lavander paint walls welcome me. Lina's favorite perfume is all around the room. Her purple curtains across from me leaves an opening of sunlight. I walk to her bed that's next to the window. Her bed always comforted me. I walk around the bed and sit on the edge next to the lamp drawer.

I close my eyes and inhale the peace. When I put my hands down on the drawer I knock something over. My eyes open immediately. I look at the faced- down photo frame. I gently hold it and turn it around.

Instantly my heart melts. The picture was taken when we were little.

It was summer. My mother was helping my father with the grill. My best friend's family was here too. We were at the beach having a cook-out.

"Aubrey! Let's build a sand castle!" Lina waved her arm to me. I ran. The burning sand against my feet was amazing. The breeze whooshing by as I ran faster and faster.

"Let's make it huge!" Gissel says.

"Yeah!" I smile. We try our best to make it as best as we can. Before we know it it was almost as tall as us.

"Girls! How about a picture of the world's greatest architects!" My father smiled brightly as he held his camera in his hands.

We looked up at the camera. Our arms wrapped around each other.

"Our dream house will be that big. For all of us." Teresa smiles.

"Everyone say 'Dreamhouse'!" My father took the picture and that couldn't have been any better.

I didn't realize I was crying. I hold the frame tightly against my chest and curl myself up in bed. I cry and cry. I toss and turn until the smell of Chinese food greets me. I get up from the bed and head downstairs.

"Babe! You want some Chinese?" Lina hands me a plate. We serve ourselves the food and sit down on the kitchen counter.

"You sleep okay?" Gissel asks.

"For the most part." I gently smile.

"I should do some grocery shopping later or tomorrow." Lina says.

"We'll go with you. I think I do too." Gissel says.

"Then go out and eat!!!" Teresa exclaims.

"Well then in the meantime let's enjoy our day." Lina grins and from there we finished our day.
