Chapter Fifty Six - Homecoming Court

Friday morning was hectic, to say the least.

The students of Bluesville High milled around, complimenting eachother, and trying to see who had the best outfit.

George stood by his locker, unsure of where to go and who to seek out.

He was wearing a white button down and black dress pants, like the rest of the football team. Homecoming was supposed to be casual, so none of them had wanted to do anything extravagant.

A group of Junior girls milled by, and handed him a pastel blue flower crown on the claims of trying to get the whole football team to wear them.

George doubted that was actually the goal, but accepted the flower crown anyways.

Soon after the girls left G, Eston and Dick found George, all of them wearing matching flower crowns.

"Yay! You got a flower crown!" G said "Now I don't have to track those girls down to get you one!"

"Have you seen Philip yet?" Dick asked before the conversation on flower crowns could continue.

"No...." George said "Why?"

Dick just grinned at him.

The four talked until the warning bell rang, and then headed off to their classes.

-Time skip-

George sat down at the football players lunch table and waited for Philip to enter the cafeteria. After Dick asked if George had seen Philip, all George could think about was what Philip could possibly be wearing.

Eventually Frances and Philip walked in, and the whole cafeteria stopped to stare at how good the twins looked.

They were both wearing white button-downs, but while Frances had her shirt tucked into a silver skirt, and Philip had his tucked into gold dress pants. They were both wearing black ties.

George looked away. Stupid gay thoughts.

Friday was a half-day, but right after the end of school the Pep Rally started.

The cheer leaders led some chants and did some of their routines, and the band played for a bit, but the only reason anyone was there was for the announcement of Homecoming Court.

The principal stood at the microphone and produced a envelope from her pocket.

"And now, they moment you've been waiting for!" She announced "Homecoming Court!"

"The Homecoming Princess is Sophia King!"

Sophia, Mr.King's Junior year daughter, came up and accepted her crown.

"Our Homecoming Prince is Robert Lee!"

The Junior year Robert, or Robbie, came up, accepted his crown, and stood by Sophia.

"Our Homecoming Queen is Theodosia Burr!"

Theo winning wasn't surprising- everyone loved her. You could tell by the especially loud cheering.

Theo went up and accepted her crown.

"And last but not least, our Homecoming King is....George Eacker!"

Well that wasn't what George was expecting.
