Will watched Theodosia, the first person to succesfully befriend him, walk across the stage to receive her diploma.
When Will was almost five his Mother and Father had divorced, leaving Hercules Mulligan to raise their two children by himself. It also left Will with a bit of a fear of becoming close to people who could one day leave him.
Will had talked to George about both of them not knowing their Mom, but their situations were quite different. George's mom had been the one to leave, with only a flimsy excuse. Will's parents' divorce had been a mutual agreement, and his Mom still sent birthday and holiday cards to him and his older brother.
Even so, Will was still afraid of abandonment. Because of this, it had taken Theodosia several months and her unending stubbornness for them to finally become friends.
Theodosia waved at Will, and he finger-gunned back, making her roll her eyes. Theo walked to the group of chairs reserved for the graduates, and sat in the first one.
Will turned back to the stage and watched a his friends receive their diplomas. G got his right after David did, and Will followed his slightly older brother to get his own diploma.
Will then watched Dick, who he had bonded with through sexual puns and innuendos, get his own diploma and then twerk before running off the stage.
Eventually the diploma receiving ended, and the graduating class threw their graduation caps, signalling their end of high school.
They had all decorated the tops of the caps, and Will took a moment to watch the sun reflect off sequins, glitter, and shiny marker as they rose and fell in the early June air.
Will breathed in deeply.
He was finally done with the Hell commonly refered to as high school.
(Oh look, finally some background on William Mulligan after 93 fucking chapters.)
