(I don't know what people do for Valentine's Day, I've never had a date to do anything with.

Trigger Warning for homphobia and then a kind of fight.)

Philip messed with the hem of his shirt as he waited for George to arrive. Even though it had only been about five minutes since he was supposed to get there, Philip couldn't help but worry that maybe there was a car accident, or George stood him up.

Happy couples milled around him, along with the occasional salty single. Philip knew the mall would be crowded, so he stood near the front doors waiting to see George's familiar figure in the small crowd coming inside.

"Hey."

Philip jumped and turned around to see who had spoken to him.

"Hey, you scared me." Philip said, smiling up at George.

"I got you a teddy bear for your birthday, but it's in my car. Meanwhile, we can go to the little store in here that sells cake if it's not too crowded." George said.

"Ok!" Philip said "I like you're pink sweater by the way."

George smiled and held out his arm for Philip to take. Together they made their way to the bakery.

-time skip-

The bakery was surprising uncrowded. Philip guessed it was because a fancy restaurant had just opened up on the other side of the mall.

George ordered a slice of lemon cake, while Philip got a brownie. They got a table next to the window to watch the people in the mall go by.

They spent a good amount of time there, even when they had long finished their food, talking about their friends and hopes for the future and everything in between.

Carefully, George took Philip's hand and intertwined their fingers. Philip blushed but didn't mention it.

"Hey, what are those faggots doing, acting like they can be in here when they're like that." Someone said, homophobia obvious in their tone.

George snapped his head around. Philip couldn't see his face, but he guessed George was glaring at the man.

"Joe, c'mon leave them alone." The man behind the counter said, clearly used to the man, Joe, being in the shop.

"But they're sinning, and need to be fixed." Joe said, standing up. From the stumble in his step towards the counter, Philip guessed the man was drunk.

"You're just upset because your girlfriend left you for another woman today last year." The man behind the counter said.

Joe rolled his eyes and staggered towards Philip and George. "You're sinners." He said "You should be ashamed."

There was a moment of complete silence in the store before George abruptly stood up and punched Joe in the face.

Joe stumbled backwards, clutching his nose, blood dripping between his fingers.

"What the Hell?" Joe gasped.

The man behind the counter stared at them in shock.

George grabbed Joe by the collar and pulled him close so their faces were inches apart.

"Say something like that to anybody ever again," George spat "and I will make sure you regret it."

George calmly let Joe go and walked out of the store.

"Sorry!" Philip apologized to the man behind the counter, who was now laughing, and then ran after George.

(Joe is an OC, by the way.
