Chapter Fifty Seven - Philip is Disappointed

(There are people out there who know how football works and I am not one of them)

Philip stood against the fence at separated the stands from the football field, watching the two teams run up and down the field.

The two teams were tied, and there was only few more minutes left in the game. Spring Acres and Bluesville seemed bent on not letting the other team score.

The band had played half-time, and then got to sit in the bleachers. Even though Will was in the band with him, and Philip could sit next to him, Philip had decided to lean against the fence and let Will watch his trumpet.

Philip watched the scoreboard clock count down. Just before the game ended the Blusville stands cheered and Philip snapped his head around to realize George had scored a touch down, winning Blusville the game.

Philip ran along sidewalk thing between the fence and the stands to congratulate the whole team, but mostly George, only to see they had already disappeared into the locker rooms.

Philip huffed, annoyed, but didn't let that stop him. He would congratulate his friends when they came out of the locker room.

About half an hour passed before the team emerged, and Philip perked up a bit, seeing George, but the team passed in a group of cheering teenagers as if Philip wasn't there.

G, Eston, and Dick didn't see him. They walked right past.

But George acted even worse. George, who he really wanted to congratulate, looked at him once, without any emotion on his face, and then turned forward and let the football team drag him along.

Philip felt like crying.

But he held the tears back because he'd be a crybaby if he cried over his friends not seeing him, and he didn't want to be labeled as a crybaby.

Anyways, he only had twenty minutes to put away his trumpet and change out of his band uniform to his Homecoming outfit before the parade to the dance started.

With a disappointed sigh, Philip walked back towards the school to find Will and do the before mentioned things.
