Theodosia walked towards the movie theater, crossing her arms to warm herself in the cold Febuary wind.

She pushed open the door and closed her eyes for a moment, taking in the warmth and smell of popcorn.

"Hey, 'Dosia." Frances said, calling her a nickname that only Frances called her.

"Hey!" Theodosia, gladly hugging her girlfriend.

"I was here before you again." Frances said, grinning down at Theo. No matter how early Theodosia arrived at the destination of their date, Frances was always there before her. It had turned into a competition sometime in Sophomore year, to the point where Theo would show up an hour early, only to find her girlfriend waiting patiently for her.

"I know." Theo said, taking Frances's hand and leading her towards the line for tickets for some cheesy romantic movie.

"You should stop trying," Frances said "I'm always going to beat you."

"Don't kill my dreams." Theo said, shouldering Frances playfully.

"You dream about me?" Frances asked.

"Shut up, Franny." Theodosia said.

"Ah! The fatal nickname!" Frances said, draping the back of her hand across her forehead as if to faint. Theodosia smiled.

They got to the front of the line and Frances ordered their tickets.

Theodosia swung their linked hands in between them and looked around the lobby area. A group of middle school kids stood off to the side, looking and giggling at Frances and Theodosia the way only gay kids do when they see other gay kids. Theodosia smiled and waved at them, which excited them even more.

They got in line for popcorn and drinks and then headed to the theater the movie was playing in.

They found their seats and watched the ads before the movie started.

"Ugh, I hate how they never make gay movies for any holidays." Theo said, as the familiar straight movie starting played.

"And even when they do, the gay kids die." Frances added on.

"This start is so typical. White blond girl who's nerdy likes popular boy, who happens to be dating other bitchy white blond cheerleader girl. Give me diversity!" Theodosia continued.

"Diversity! And gay people!" Frances yelled, throwing a piece of popcorn at the screen.

A middle-aged couple turned and looked at them disgustedly.

"Diversity and gay people!" Frances said, throwing popcorn at the couple instead.

Theodosia laughed. She could see the group of gay middle schoolers laughing with her.

The middle-aged man stood up and left.

"You think he realized he's gay just now?" Frances asked as he left.

"He's probably going to go tell on us." Theo answered.

Sure enough, the man returned with one of the employees.

Theodosia and Frances left with out complaining or putting up a fight since it wasn't the employees fault, and they didn't seem to want to kick them out that much.

So, instead of watching the movie as originally planned, they got pizza from one of the stores that you could get to through the lobby.

Later, when the movie ended, the group of gay kids came and found them.

"You're so cool!" One of the five of them said, smiling in delight.

"Hell yeah we are." Frances said before stuffing as much pizza as she could into her mouth.

"You're so much cooler than my parents." Another said "They're homophobic."

"Jokes on you," Frances said after quickly swallowing "we're your parents now."

And that was how Frances and Theodosia got kicked out of a movie theater and then adopted five more children.
