Watching as he crossed the border I couldn't help but let myself grimace at the thought of him coming onto my land. Shaking that off I put on a smile and waited for his cars to stop. Watching as he exited his car and walked up to me I reminded myself that my smile needed to stay in place for the time being.

"Xavier! Nice to see you!" Chris said as he extended his hand out.

"Chris, nice to see you too. Let's take this to my office so we can discuss whatever it is that brought you here." Leading him towards the pack house we encountered Dillon running down the steps covered in blood.

"Good training today?" Chris said with a smile. Dillon smiled but before he could answer, Chris started sniffing the air as his eyes turned amber. "Where is she?" he growled.

Turning to have my beta at my back, I signaled my other wolves to stand down but ready.

"Chris, control yourself or you will be escorted off my land."

"Where is she, Xavier?" He ground out.

"We can discuss this inside. Dillon, go shower and change quickly. Shane! Escort these men with me to my office." Following in front of Shane I could hear Chris's wolf snarling behind us. "If you continue to snarl and growl at us I will take it as a sign of war and you will be either escorted off our property or to our cells Alpha Chris." I told him giving him a pointed look. I listened as he breathed deeply in. Coming to my office I opened the door and gestured them all inside. Waiting for the last man to enter I saw Dillon running down the hallway.

"Sorry. I didn't know I had her blood all over me. We had just finished sparring when I was alerted to his presence. I ran her to her room and it must have gotten on me then. " Dillon told me lowering his head and baring his neck.

"It's ok. He had to find out at some time she was here." Walking in I had Dillon and Shane flank me on either side as I went to sit behind my desk.

"Where is she?"

"Chris, you came to me asking for this meeting, not the other way around. Let me tell you now, if you disrespect my pact or me it will be over. You're hear still because you are a friend and trusted ally."

"Xavier, I'll tell you everything after you tell me where she is." Chris ground out closing his amber eyes. His wolf was trying to gain control.

"Chris, I won't tell you where she is. I will not have you attacking her or dragging her out of her against her will and yes it would be against her will." Leveling him with my gaze I could tell his Alpha blood did not like being talked to this way but he wasn't in complete control yet. "She is fine. She lives here with my pack and has for about 2 years now. We found her passed out in the forest. We put her in a cell until we could determine what would draw a rouge here. After listening to her story it took about 3 months but she has been accepted as a pack member."

"You locked her up in a cell?" His eyes were blazing.

"Do you honestly think you wouldn't have done the same if a rouge wolf had shown up at your doorsteps?" I asked him. My own attitude was starting to flare. Eyes blazing he seemed to be trying to collect his thoughts before speaking out loud.

"Can I see her?"

"That's up to her. I've told you, I won't have you dragging her away or attacking her. It's taken her awhile to get over what happened with you and that maniac. You won't put her back into that downward spiral."

"What the fuck do you mean with me and that maniac? She killed my mother. I was angry and confused."

"Still are from what I see. Get to the point of why you came because in a few minutes you will be leaving and returning home." Standing he flung the chair behind him. Tensing on either side of me, Dillon and Shane watched me stand to my full 6'7 height. "I do believe it is now your time to go before you do something you'll regret."

"I'll be taking my mate with me." Hearing Dillon growl beside me, I looked at him out of the corner of my eye.

"No. She will remain here with us. You will be leaving by yourself. Dillon and Shane, show the Alpha to his car."

"This could be considered an act of war Xavier."

"Our bylaws state that since she is in my pack I can do whatever I see fit to keep her protected Alpha Chris. You'd do well to remember that before threatening war on one of your strongest allies." Narrowing my eyes I watched as he turned to leave. "One last thing Chris. You need to get rid of your anger at her before you think of coming back. She isn't the same wolf you threw away." Hearing his growl I closed the door and counted to ten before exiting my office to go visit Lexi.

Hearing her laugh, I hesitated to push open the door but she needed to know what happened. Opening it I saw Rachel, the pack doctor, stitching up a gash in her leg as she laughed at something that had been said. Seeing me her smile turned down and she tried to sit up. Rachel placed her hand on her side to make her lay flat as she finished up the stitches. Gathering her materials she quietly left the room. Sitting next to her on the bed, I saw the blood stained towels and sheets.

"Gonna have to get you more sheets again."

"I know. It's Dillon's fault. He's a cheater." She said pouting. Hearing the thundering up the stairs I knew Dillon was on his way. Keeping it friendly I stuck with the topic at hand.

"How's Dillon a cheater?"

"Lexi! I am not a cheater!" I heard Dillon say as he came in through the door.

"Shut up Dillon! It's my story to tell and in it you're a cheater!" She quickly retorted at him. Schooling her face into her puppy dog face she turned back to me making me laugh. "I hurt my hand in the gym and Dillon tried to kick me out saying I was done for the day so we agreed to spar. Best 2 out of 3. If I won then I got to stay and if his stupid face won then I went in to take a shower and hang out with Carmen. He beat me the first round but during the second I had him!"

"She shifted mid battle and cheated." Dillon retorted before Lexi silenced him with a withering gaze.

"As I was saying, we were both taking a quick breather before round 3 and bam out of nowhere he attacks me! I wasn't expecting it and he didn't say anything. That's how I got this gash in my leg. Look at me! I'm broken!!" She exclaimed flouncing down on her bed. Laughing I poked her sides until she sat up. Seeing Dillon's face she threw her pillow at him. "Suck it up buttercup. You know I still love you! You're my brother. You're supposed to rip me limb from limb!" She said laughing. Turning she looked at my face in more detail. Her face dropped and we both looked at each other for a few minutes.

"What happened Xav?" she whispered quietly.

"He smelled you on Dillon. He wanted to know where you are. Threatened to take you and start a war if I didn't let you go with him. He won't but he was really angry when I refused." I listened to her gasp at the war thing. Going into her closet I picked up a baggy pair of sweats and threw them at her. "Let's get pizza. It'll cheer you up and me too." Slipping them on she stood up and we walked downstairs and out to the cars. Getting Carmen along the way we drove to pizza place to take our mind off the trouble.
