Lexi POV

2 Days Later.

Gasping awake, I jerked up into a sitting position. Feeling my skin tighten across my back had me hissing in pain. Reaching to jerk the gown aside I saw scabs forming where the scratches had been. Looking down at my legs I could see scars forming there too, quickly reaching up to my face I felt the familiar rough puckering of a scar. Glancing at my arm I saw a wrap around it. Reaching over to pull the wrap off I heard the door open. Steeling myself I slowly looked up to see the doctor. Wary I watched as he walked up to me and pulled the wrap off.  Examining my arm he put it down before grabbing my chin and examining the scratches on my face.

"You're healing up nicely now that your wolf is strong enough to help you heal. I'd say to give you another day and you should be back to normal. Two for those scabs to be gone."

"Thank you." Looking at his face I saw the surprise flit across his face before he regained his composure.

"Just doing my job. I wouldn't be a good pack doctor if I let the Luna die."

"I'm not the Luna of this pack." I stated slowly. Watching as he walked over to a sink in the wall and began to wash his hands.

"Alpha says you're the Luna, so your the Luna. That's the purpose of mates."

"He isn't my mate." Hearing his slight scoff I just sighed and laid back.

"You can't deny your mate forever. Sooner or later you'll have to accept the mating bond."

"I'm not his mate. We don't have a mating bond. I'm just the girl whose family he murdered and kidnapped." Rolling over I faced the wall and started to pick at the cinder blocks. I could feel his eyes on my back as I continued to pick at the blocks. Hearing his sigh and then move over to sit in a chair had me quickly turning to give him a measured look.

"Let's here your story then."

"You believe me?" I asked incredulously.

"Not a bit but talking it out may help you to see the lies your living in aren't healthy." Giving him a strangled sigh I began to tell him my story. When I got to the part about how Greg tried to mark me he just gave a cursory glance at the scars before continuing to listen. When I was done I sat back and monitored him as he took in the information I gave him.

"The mark on your shoulder could just have easily come from a different wolf. That proves nothing of your story is true."

"It came from Greg whether you'll believe it or not. My real mate and I never got the chance to mark each other before Greg kidnapped me and his mother. She didn't make it and for a while he blamed me. I found a home with another Alpha, Xavier, who also didn't mark me because we weren't mates. That only leaves the only other Alpha wolf I've been around, Greg. Doesn't matter what you think anyway. I'll die before I ever let that monster try to mark me again." I growled out.

"I didn't say I didn't believe it, I just said it doesn't prove your story. As a pack doctor I've seen my fair share of wolf injuries and fights. You don't fit the typical progressions. Your wolf is quicker to take over than most, which usually comes from those recently shifted but if you're 20-21 years old then that wouldn't be the case. Most wolves shift at 13 however if Greg changed you into a werewolf it could explain why your wolf acts the way it does. Over reactions, failing you quicker than any other case I've seen, the adrenaline rushes you experience to continue fighting long past when a normal wolf would have given out due to exhaustion. It's a very curious thing you've given me to think about." He said giving me a pondering look.

"You mean you don't think I'm lying?" I asked my voice quiet and full of disbelief.

"I didn't say that either. I need to think about this information." Sitting quietly I watched his face until we both heard voices down the hall. Glancing at the doctor I watched as he nodded towards the bed and mimed sleeping. Closing my eyes right before the door opened I tried to level my breathing out.

"Is she awake James?"

"Not yet, Alpha. I expect by later tonight she should be. Her wolf failing her did a number to her system. Her wolf appears to be on the mend though so I would say by 5-6 o'clock tonight she should be awake."

"Will she be ready for more fights at that time or will it send her wolf into the same state?"

"I couldn't honestly say. In my opinion I'd say she's probably better off not fighting but I've never seen a case quite like hers before."

"What is that supposed to mean Doctor?" I heard Greg seething out.

"Just that her wolf went into collapse quicker than most wolves are prone to. She was under tremendous stress with all the fights though and then 8 days without food and minimal water. 2 months of extreme physical exertion coupled with the malnutrition could just explain the uniqueness of her case."

"I'm sure you're just reading into it James." Greg said with a forced laugh. "Let me know the moment she wakes up."

"I will Alpha." Hearing the footsteps turn towards the door and stop I held my breath.

"Who were you talking to when I walked down the hallway James?"

"Just April and myself Alpha. Just trying to determine if she was awake and letting her know what was going on. More for myself than anything. Old age catches up to me sometimes, Alpha."

"James I'm not sure you'll ever be old." Greg said before walking out. Hearing the door close I kept my eyes closed until I felt the Doctors hand on my shoulder. Looking up at him I saw concern in his eyes.

"I'm going to take a blood sample for myself. You have about an hour before I have to tell him you're awake. Rest up before then." Nodding my head I watched as he grabbed a needle and tube to collect my blood before glancing behind him. Feeling the pressure above my wrist I closed my eyes until the slight bite of the needle pierced my skin. Counting down from 100 I got to 29 before he was done and patting my knee. Opening my eyes I watched him collect the supplies before walking out. Rolling over I picked at the cement wall until I fell asleep again.
