Lexi POV
Hearing Xavier's roar, I flinched back slightly. Watching his slide up until they met mine I could feel my wolf going on edge before a feral growl escaped his throat. Stepping back slightly I bared my neck and lowered myself to the ground, watching his body language. Hearing him struggling to regain composure I stayed down until I heard him howl and run out of the room. Rising to my feet I glanced over at Dillon and nodded for him to follow me.
"Xavier will turn up but right now we need to prepare. I know this asshole like the back of my hand, we will have to follow his rules. He will have people watching. Assemble the warriors into the conference room. We will need to have a back up plan to protect the Alpha in case something goes sour." Watching him nod in my peripheral vision we stalked into the house and carefully laid out the maps of our woods as wolves filed in quickly. Glancing and seeing our top warriors in the room, I quickly started our meeting.
"Our Alpha's mate has been taken and right now she is in danger. The lunatic who had me a couple of years ago now has her. He is willing to work a trade, which we will accept." Seeing Shane and Dillon both give me shocked looks like everyone else I continued talking. "I know it's a lot to take in and I'm not our Alpha but I do know this guy like the back of my hand. We need to follow what he says to the T." Glancing around I watched as everyone nodded their understanding when the door flung open and Xavier walked in. A growl ripped through his chest at the sight of me before he walked over to the couch and flung himself down. Glancing at him briefly I walked the warriors through the plan.
"Ok, so does everyone know the plan? Any questions speak now. Our main mission is to keep our Alpha and Luna safe." Hearing Xavier scoff at this like he had done several times in the meeting I turned toward him. "Are you going to offer input or just keep being passive aggressive?" I could feel my temper flaring up.
"We wouldn't even need you and your stupid little plan if you weren't here in the first place." Xavier growled out slowly standing. I watched as the wolves around us bared their necks and sunk lower. Standing tall I felt my wolf quivering to be let out.
"I can't deny that. I didn't think he would do something like this though."
"Didn't you? You did say you knew him like the back of your hand. After all you were his whore for years. Didn't you learn anything about him in that time you were spreading your legs?" He asked with a sneer.
Feeling my hackles rising I felt a snarl escape my lips as his eyes narrowed. "I'll forgive you because your mate is in danger but you're going to hate yourself come tomorrow."
"Hate myself? The only person in this room I hate is you. You are the reason I may lose my mate. You brought this upon us. You're a death sentence. Anybody who gets close to you gets hurt. But you already know that don't you? Look at Chris's mom? You destroyed his family and got his warriors killed." He said sneering. We were now circling each other and the other wolves were looking on nervously. Watching his face I missed his hand coming out and connecting with my eye. Yelping in surprise, I fell back before I had registered what had happened. Before I could react, Xavier was on me in seconds. Throwing my hands up I felt his teeth dig into my forearms as I cried out in pain. Dillon and Shane jumped in to pull him off. Changing back I could hear Xavier yelling at them to get off, while Dillon reasoned that they needed me to trade. Dashing back the tears I stood slowly. Facing Shane I told him to review the plan with the warriors who needed it and to have Xavier ready to meet me in an hour before I headed out of the room.
Walking slowly to my room I could feel the tears clouding up my vision before I heard footsteps behind me. Whirling around I lifted my hands in a defensive pose as I took in the form behind me. Seeing it was Carmen I let out a small whimper as she hugged me. Holding on to her I let the tears come as she helped me back to my room. Once there she set me on the bed while she got the shower started. Pushing me in she helped me bath, being careful of wounds. Stepping out I let her bundle me in a towel before setting me on the bed. Watching her move around my closet I felt the tears slowing down. Standing I took the clothes she offered. Smiling slightly I saw she had given me my favorite white t shirt, black skinny jeans and combat boots. Going to the bottom draw she started to hand me my knives. Finishing up she walked back into my closet to get me a zip up hoodie. Pulling it on I finally looked at her face. Seeing her own tears made mine well up again and I found myself clinging to her and crying together before a glance at the clock told me it was time to go. Holding her face in my hands I kissed her forehead softly.
"I love you Carmen. Promise you'll behave and take care of yourself?"
"I'll try. Promise you'll find a chance to escape?"
"I'll never stop." I told her with a smile and a hug.
"My pup needs to know the beautiful aunt they are named after." She whispered in my ear. Gasping in shock I squeezed her tighter before letting go and heading down the stairs. Walking out the door I saw a crowd of wolves waiting for me. Feeling the hugs, and words of encouragement put a slight smile on my face until I rounded the corner and saw Xavier's face in front of the training center. Frowning again, I walked up to him.
"Ready?"
"Don't talk to me. You're a cursed wolf Lexi. You've been nothing but bad luck." Xavier hissed out before turning away. Turning towards Dillon and Shane I quickly gave them hugs before following Xavier into the woods. Walking the path we were told I could hear all the noises of the forest. We had been walking for an hour before we both came to a halt. Waiting in the silence I turned to Xavier and whispered, "I still love you Xavier. I don't know if I can ever trust you again but I still love you." Not getting a response, I turned and watched the shapes coming over the horizon. Blurry at first, they finally came in to focus with Alpha Greg at the lead.
