Sitting against Lexi's door, holding my nose I heard a door slam and lock before music started. Standing I started to pound on the door before Xavier came up to me and put his hand on my shoulder. Glancing at him I just sighed and walked with him to the hospital wing.
Rachel gasped when she saw me. Setting down her clipboard she walked over to get several tools before showing me where to sit. Removing my hand I let her look over my nose before setting it and apologizing as I hissed in air. Taping it up, she looked over at Xavier. Seeing two sets of eyes looking at me expectantly I sighed again before putting my face in my hands.
"I was coming here to see her, thought she might want to see me today. I saw her peering around the corners before seeing me. She took off towards her room. I assumed she had been released so I followed her. Watching her you could see how she avoided everyone. Anytime she heard footsteps or voices she changed directions. Her room is only what? 5 minutes from this place? Took us close to 10 to get there with the route she took. But anyway, she reached her door and I walked up behind her and she head butted me, then knocked me over with a surprise gut shot before jumping into her room and slamming the door. She started crying so I asked her to let me help. She slammed into her bathroom." Rubbing my forehead with my hands I glanced up at those two who were sharing a look.
"What?"
"Nothing man, just thinking about what you said." Xavier said with a shrug. Seeing Rachel's face had me standing and glaring at the two of them.
"What? Cut the shit Xavier." Sighing I saw him shoot Rachel a glance as she wrung her shirt between her hands.
"She may be suffering the affects of PTSD. She wouldn't open and talk to us so I could never be sure but it would explain some of her behavior." Looking down at the floor I watched her bare her neck. Looking down I could see my hands were shaking. Stepping back I took several deep breaths in and out.
"Ok. So let's say she has PTSD, what are some of the signs we need to look for? Is she going to be a danger to anybody? Can we do anything?"
"Well her moods are going to fluctuate between agitation, irritability, hostility, she could show severe fear, anxiety, mistrust and flashbacks. We need to watch for nightmares or insomnia which could be a product of those and emotional detachment. She could pose a threat to those around her when in a flashback but she could isolate herself. When we see her we will need to watch for self destructive behavior. If I can diagnose her fully then we can look into either therapy or medicinal measures to help combat this." Looking up at Xavier's face I could see he was in shock too. Looking back at Rachel I tried to form a few thoughtful questions.
"How long until you can diagnose her?"
"Well that depends on her behaviors. This could have been a fluke, freak accident or it could be the start. I'd say at least a few days so I can monitor her actions and probably a week before she and I can come up with a treatment option."
"What happens if she doesn't want treatment?"
"Well we may need to give her an Alpha order at that point. If she is a danger to herself or others then we can't afford to have her refuse the treatment." I watched the pain flick across Rachel's face at that statement.
"Would that do more damage?"
"It could but we would use medicines at that time to combat this and hopefully speed up her recovery. The first week would be tough but it may be necessary." Sighing, I motioned for Xavier and we walked out of the hospital to his office. Sitting we both were quiet for a few moments.
"What do we do?" Surprised I looked up at Xavier.
"What do you mean?"
"She's your mate. I don't want to do anything to set your wolf off but we may have to take drastic measures. I need to know what you want to do or are comfortable with happening so we can plan to tackle this head on." He said with a slight shrug.
"Let's have someone follow her. If she leaves her room, we need to know. If she stays in, we need to know. If she has any changes, we need to know. We can pick a team, girl and a boy so she isn't suspicious but then we can get both sides of the story. If Rachel says she has PTSD then we need to sit down the 4 of us and possibly James to talk about her treatment options. If it comes to needing an Alpha order then do it. She needs to get better." Seeing his nod I leaned back into my chair.
"I feel like I could have prevented this if I had never let my pride get in the way and kicked her out those years ago."
"I could have prevented this by not sending her in the first place. We all have regrets here. You have to be strong for her Chris." Turning my head up fractionally to look at my friend I saw his eyes were determined.
"We will make her better and then you two can live your happily ever after." Snorting I laughed a bit before standing and making my way to the door. Hearing Xavier clear his throat I turned back to him.
"Do you mind if I assign the team to watch her?"
"You know her better than I do. Pick someone she will trust." I told him shrugging and walking out of the room.
