Swearing I shook my hand. The bruise was already forming along with the cut on the back of my hand. Dillon came over to see what the problem was and saw my hand. Grabbing my arm he pulled me over to the first aid kit and wrapped it up. Walking back over to my machine I was surprised when a hand come down on my shoulder.
"You're done. Go shower." Dillon told me.
"But Dillon! I need to! I have to improve and get better!" I looked at him through wide eyes. Watching him mull it over in his mind he eventually started to speak slowly.
"You can spar with me. If you win, then you can stay and beat yourself senseless. If I win, you go take a shower and hang out with Carmen." He told me leveling his stare with mine. Smiling I nodded and walked to the sparring mat. Stripping off my workout gear, I quickly shifted into my wolf. My face was pure white with grey and black tufts lining the outside edges and my ears. The black and grey descended down my back and to my tail while my legs and underbelly were a pale white. My pale blue eyes stuck out against the snowy white as they watched Dillon's movements. Dillon shifted into his dark grey wolf with its bits of brown on his back. Sizing him up I tried to remember his weaknesses. Sprinting I jumped and nipped his neck before getting behind him. Before he could turn I jumped onto his back and latched onto his scruff. Shaking my head I tried to throw him off balance when he shook his head, making me land on my side at the far end of the mat. Feeling his paw touch my soft under belly, I looked up at him. Shifting back we stood in front of each other.
"Best 2 out of 3?"
"Lexi, we had a deal."
"Come on Dillon! I'll get my head into gear this time!" I gave him my best puppy dog eyes. Seeing him smile I knew I had him. Shifting back I waited until he got back into his wolf form. Blowing out a breath I started the slow circle around him. Watching him, I waited until he lunged first. Darting out of the way, I shifted quickly back into human form and jumped on top of his back. Shaking he tried to get me off but I pinched and turned his ear. Howling he shifted and grabbed my foot, throwing me to the mat. Feeling the breath leave my body I wasted a precious second taking in a deep breath before I felt him grabbing my foot. Striking out I caught him on his side. Scrambling to my feet I retreated back three steps staying in a defensive pose. Watching as he came close I saw the telltale tremble before jumping out of the way as his wolf landed where I'd been standing a minute earlier. Jumping, I shifted and latched one more time on his back. Grabbing on with my teeth I shook him hard before jumping back. Feeling his claws graze my shoulder I whimpered in pain before collapsing to the mat. Watching him shift and walk up to me with a smug smile on his face I laid their pitifully. Shifting just before he got to me, I kicked his feet out from under him and as soon as he fell I straddled him and began punching his face. Feeling him pushing me back, I wrapped my arms around his neck and held on. When I was underneath him on the mat, I shifted and lunged for his throat. Licking it I saw him freeze. Wiggling out from under him I walked backwards and shifted back into human form.
"Cheater." He spat at me with a smile. His breathing heavy. Leaning over to put my hands on my knees I just shot him a look.
"It's called using your assets Dillon. Maybe if you had any you could use them!" I retorted with a laugh. My laugh was cut short as I felt Dillon's huge weight on top of me as he tackled me to the ground. Bringing my knee up I felt it connect with his groin before he rolled off me. Rolling in the opposite direction I shifted quickly and watched as he did the same. He charged at me and I was a second too late to get out of the way. Feeling his teeth latch onto my back leg I whimpered as he bit down hard. Pulling my leg I could feel his teeth leaving a gash down its length. Limping I turned to face him as he charged again. Knocking me on my side he sank his canines into my neck before shifting quickly back into human form. Shifting back myself I saw my leg had a pretty bad gash on it. Looking down his face fell.
"Oh shit Lexi! I didn't mean to get you that bad." He said sinking down to look at my leg.
"It's cool Dillon. I know you didn't mean it." I told him ruffling his hair. Walking over I grabbed his tshirt and slung it on my body before slowly limping to my clothes. "I'm going to go shower and get this bandaged up."
"Lexi I really am sorry." Dillon said as he pulled on his basketball shorts.
"Dillon, we sparred. It happens. I'm just glad I kicked your ass the second time." I told him smiling cheekily. Waiting for his smile I then hit him with the whammy. "Plus Carmen's going to love that you scarred me!" watching as his face fell I limped out of the gym. Limping across the pack grounds I had only gone 20 feet when I felt Dillon's arms pick me up.
"Hey! I was kidding about telling Carmen!" I told trying to push him off me.
"Lexi, we need to get you inside." He seethed out.
"Dillon, what's wrong?" I asked worried.
"Lexi, he's here. He showed up 10 minutes ago." Letting Dillon run me up to my room, I watched as he opened my door and deposited me on the hard wood floor. "Sorry, I got to go to Alpha Xavier. Lock your door when I leave." He said leveling me with his serious gaze.
"You got it. Can you tell Rachel to come up in about 30 minutes to bandage my leg?" I said trying not to think about who was here.
"You got it!" He said running out, and clicking my lock into place. He never trusted me to follow through with directions.
Out of everything that I had accomplished in being a werewolf I still couldn't get the hang of the mind link. I could never hear anything anybody said and I couldn't talk to anybody through it. The pack doctor, Rachel, didn't know why it was happening and just kept telling me to be patient. I had been patient. 2 years of it with nothing to show. Groaning I limped into the bathroom and started up my shower. Watching as the blood ran into the drain I wondered how it was going down below.
