Waking up I stretched and looked around the room. Taking the duvet wrapped around me I went over to the shelves and looked at the memories there. Pictures of Chris and his dad, Matt and his family, Frank and Matt sneaking up on Chris. Smiling sadly at those, I thought back to my time at Xavier's and the memories I had with Carmen and Dillon, Xavier and Rachel. Shuffling to the end of the shelf I saw a stack of pictures. Flipping through them I saw that it was me on the night of the concert. Singing the solo, me and Chris, and Me and the boys and finally the one of me, Chris and Patrick. Wincing at seeing Patrick I yelped when the hands came down on my shoulders.
"Sorry," Chris said wincing. "Thought you heard me come in."
Smiling lightly at him I gestured to the pictures, "I was browsing so I missed it." Watching him look down at the picture in my hand I saw Chris scowl.
"Thought I got rid of that one. Sorry Lexi, I didn't mean to leave that out."
"We were happy." I said with a shrug. "Patrick was a nice guy but power and greed took him over. I feel kind of bad for him. I don't really blame him anymore."
"You forgave Patrick and not Xavier?" Chris asked incredulous.
"I had years to forgive Patrick." I said with a small chuckle. "Years and plenty of punching bags." I smirked up at him.
"I heard you are quiet the fighter now. You're friend Dillon speaks very highly of your skills." Chris said grabbing my arms and rubbing them gently.
"He taught me, cocky bastard. Probably mentioned that too." I shot a look up Chris to see him stifling a smile.
"He may have mentioned that 2 or 3 or 10 times." He said with a light laugh. "You know them well."
"Why?" I asked defensively.
"Just an observation Lexi. Relax." Chris told me soothingly. Taking a breath in I gave him an apologetic smile before moving to go grab my clothes out of my bag.
"They were my family for 2 years. They hated me at first." I told him with a laugh. "Locked me up, swore I was a rogue spy to destroy the pack. Dillon came around first when he saw how much I hated myself. Xavier took a bit more time but he came around too. My winning personality did them in." I shot Chris a sly look as I slipped on my plain white tshirt and black shorts. Hearing his laugh and looking to see him doubled over had me kicking out at him lightly. "I'm a gem!!" I retorted snottily at him.
"Sure Lexi. I know you're personality! You can be a bear sometimes, a stubborn ass and as sweat as sugar others." Hooking an arm around my hips he dragged me too him and nuzzled the top of my head. "It's why I love you."
"Ass."
"I'm your ass." He shot out cheekily before swiping a quick kiss across my lips. Returning his smirk with small crooked smile, I felt him grab my hair and drag me down the stairs. Glancing outside I saw it was still dark out.
"What time is it?"
"4:30."
"Dammit. I thought I slept in longer." Seeing his crazy look I shot him a cheeky smile. "I'm a baker now. I keep early hours." Sticking my tongue out I skirted past him and darted down the stairs and into the kitchen. Rifling through the cabinets and pantry I found the stuff I needed. Setting up my station I pointed to a stool and had Chris sit. Whipping up cinnamon bread, I was letting the dough rise in the last step before the oven when the boys trudged in. Grunting their hellos I just smirked as they sniffed the air.
"What's that smell?" Frank asked warily.
"Cinnamon bread." I shot out out of my chair to put it in the oven. Hearing the whoops of excitement. Matt said he would have to have his mate come meet me and learn the ropes of the kitchen.
"I'd like that." I told him with a smile. Cleaning up the mess and sanitizing the work station so it was ready for the next time I used it, I tuned out what the boys were saying until I heard Xavier's name.
"You have to go to Xavier's house?" I asked Chris. Watching Matt look at Chris sheepishly, I just shrugged. "I'm not upset, I just thought that's what I heard."
"You heard right, There is a meeting between us and another Alpha, I agreed to it before I knew you were coming back."
"When is it?"
"Tomorrow."
"Hmm." Wiping down the counter slowly I looked up after a minute and took the bread out of the oven. Letting it cool, I looked over at Chris staring at me. "What?"
"Nothing, just waiting to see what the hmm was about." Chris said watching me.
"I'm thinking, give me a minute." Sticking out my tongue I started slicing hunks of bread and buttered it for the boys. Placing plates in front of them I cleaned the knives I used, drying them and putting them away. Turning around after the last was put away I looked at Chris.
"Can I go?" Seeing his startled expression, I laughed as Matt choked on his bread.
"What?" Frank asked.
"Can I go? I'd like to see Dillon and Carmen again, apologize for being an ass." I said with a small shrug. "Plus I'm sure Carmen has all my stuff packed and organized so I can get the rest of that from her." Watching as the boys looked at me I just stared back.
"You know Xavier will be there?" Chris asked me.
"I can ignore him. I've done it before. Plus I know that house. If I didn't want him to know I was there, he wouldn't. That's how I snuck out."
"If you think you can handle it, then sure. We have to stay at least one night, Frank is coming with us this time so he can hang with you and make sure you have somebody if you need it." Smiling I jumped up and down. Sticking my tongue out at the boys I went upstairs to unpack what I had in my suitcase and repack what I needed for this trip.
