Lexi POV

Hearing Xavier slam the phone down again, I walked into the kitchen.

"Hey Alpha! You want breakfast?"

"I already ate, thanks Lexi." He told me quietly.

"Who was on the phone?" I had my back turned to him but I could feel him tense up.

"Nobody."

"Xav. Who was on the phone?"

"Drop it Lexi."

"One. More. Time. Who. Was. On. The. Phone!?" I asked turning around slowly.

"Dammit Lexi! Why can't you just leave it alone!" Xavier spat out.

"That's what? The fifth call in 2 days?" I asked looking at Xavier.

"Seventh." He said slumping into a stool.

"Geez! How'd I miss two of those calls?"

"He called my cell," Xavier groaned out.

"What's he say?" I was honestly curious.

"Same thing every time. I want to talk to Lexi. After you said no the first time I figured you'd let me know when you were ready."

"Sorry you're getting stuck in the middle. I can just go back if it'd make things easier." I told him lowering my head until I felt strong arms wrap around me and pull me into a hug.

"I'd rather you be happy. I can field a couple of phone calls so long as you're happy." He told my hair. Breaking apart from him I turn back to the stove to make eggs and bacon.

"Smells good."

"Thought you already ate?"

"But I'm still hungry." Laughing I put more bacon on. Turning on the speaker next to stove, I settled on a station and sang along to it. Finishing up breakfast I quickly plated it and brought them to the table. Chit chatting, Xavier and I were soon joined by a groggy Shane, Dillon and Carmen. Scooting over I let the Dillon and Carmen slide in next to me as Shane flopped next to Xavier.

"Any plans for the day?" Carmen asked me

"Mandatory morning training for pack members then nothing. Think I'm going to skip my afternoon session because of my leg." I told her looking down at the gash visible from my shorts.

"You're excused from morning training as well." Xavier shot out, his mouth full of bacon.

"But I can do it!" I tried to argue before he shot me the Alpha look and I agreed with him.

"I have nothing to do today Carmen." I told her glaring at him from the corner of my eye.

"Want to go shopping with me? I need a few things and you could probably stand a new dress for the gathering." Carmen shot out.

"Carmen, I don't go to the gathering." I spoke slowly to her.

"This year you will go!" She said impatiently. "Two years is enough. We want you there." She whined.

"But Carmen!"

"No but Carmen's! You're going!" She said with finality. Looking over at Xavier for help I could see he was holding in laughter. Shooting him a look he busted out laughing.

"Come on Lexi. It wouldn't be such a bad idea." He coaxed.

"Fine! All of you just gang up on me." Pushing my plates away I put my head on my arms. Listening to everyone laugh I waited until they had cleared up the dishes before marching myself upstairs to change. Stepping into my room Carmen was already there pulling out leggings and my red and blue flannel. Pairing them up with my blue scarf and knee high beige boots, we were out the door. Driving in her yellow bug we pulled up the mall 20 minutes later.

Walking around we window shopped until Carmen saw a dress she had to try on. Walking into the store I waited until she came out of the changing room for an opinion.

"Well?"

"Carmen! You're hot!" I squealed. She looked into the mirror at her red dress. It had one sleeve, which billowed out while the rest of the dress was tight to her body, accentuating all of her curves.

"It isn't too much?"

"Get it Carmen!" I told her. Picking up that dress we walked out the store and into another one. Finding a cute romper, Carmen told me I needed to try it on. Heading in to the dressing room I slipped it on and walked out to see in the big mirror. It was a long sleeve romper with a solid sweetheart top and black lace made the high neckline and sleeves. Hearing Carmen squeal I knew I was sunk. Paying for the romper, we headed off in search of shoes and accessories.
