Moonlit Futures

Chris POV

10 days after Lexi's disappearing.

Sitting at my desk, I ran my hands through my hair for what seemed like the thousandth time today. Sighing and sitting back I rubbed my eyes. Stretching slightly in my seat I leaned forward to look through more news stories when a soft knock on my door sounded.

"Come in." Watching Matt come in with a phone I sighed and held out my hand.

"Hello Xavier. No I haven't seen any stories about mysterious killings. No I haven't heard from her. I'll let you know. Bye." Scowling at the phone as I hung up I could hear Matt laughing at me. Looking up at him he tried to stifle the laughter with coughs but failed.

"What Matt?"

"Xavier thinking you'd tell him anything when that's twice now he has caused her to run." He said with a shrug. Smirking at Matt I turned back to the computer as I heard him take a seat on the couch. Glancing back up at him I waited for him to speak.

"You haven't seen any stories about killings or her in 10 days Chris."

"I know Matt."

"Let her have some time then. Stop trying to find her." Growling at his suggestion I jumped up and went to come around when I saw he was exposing his neck and had his hands up in surrender. Calming myself I sat in the chair near the couch and buried my head in my hands.

"I can't Matt."

"Chris, you're driving yourself insane. Rachel said that exposure therapy would be a good option for her and that's basically what she went out to do on her own. Let her have some time. She needs to heal herself." Looking up at him, I nodded at his words. Putting my head back into my hands I sighed loudly before standing. Turning my computer off I looked over at Matt. 

"I hope you're right."

"Chris, she was one of my best friends. She will let you know she is ok when she is ready. You know she never did well with being told what to do." He said with a slight chuckle. Smiling at him I turned to look out the window and wondered how long I'd manage to survive this time.
