Feeling Chris' hand wrap around mine and squeeze made me look up at him.
"You sure you will be ok?"
"Yes, for the hundredth time. If I don't think I'm ok, I have Frankie. I will be fine though."
"Xavier will see you since we are coming through the front, I just want to make sure you were ok since you talked about hiding before."
"I only was going to hide if I didn't feel up to seeing him. I shouldn't let him get to me. I'll be fine." Giving him a small squeeze on the hand and a slight nudge to the ribs made him smile. Returning to my book, I started reading again. Snuggling a little closer to Chris as he settled in with his folders of information, I felt him nuzzle my hair. It felt like only minuted before we arrived. Feeling the car slow down I put my book under the seat and sat straight up. Fidgeting with my dress, I pulled it down slightly and messed with my hair a bit. Feeling Chris' chest move I slapped it lightly.
"Do you know what Carmen will do to me if I look like crap?" I hissed out. Feeling him laugh again I turned towards him and waspishly retorted, "I'll tell her it's your fault."
"Do I look like I'm scared of a she-wolf?" Chris said with a smirk.
"Carmen scared Alpha O'Brien." I shot out, seeing Chris gulp I cackled out at him. "She can be very persuasive and mean. She's my best friend." I told him happily pecking him on the nose.
"Can't wait to meet her."
"You already met her." I pointed out sadly.
"I want to meet her as your friend." He told me. Smiling at him, I noticed we had been stopped for a few minutes now.
"We should probably get out before we look rude." I whispered.
"Alpha Merritt is already here I see." Chris said nodding at the man a few years older than ourselves.
"He's intimidating looking." I told him as I looked at the alpha.
"He's a softie." Chris whispered. "He and his mate just had a baby boy, Daniel. I'd say he's roughly 2 weeks old now. He'll be anxious to get back, so move your butt." He told me with a light slap. Growling lightly at him, I opened the door and stepped out. Chris followed. Walking forward, I saw that Xavier and his mate were engrossed in conversation with Alpha Merritt. Walking forward I heard a squeal from the side of Xavier and turned to meet Carmen's tackling hug. Smiling at her I held her tightly to me.
"Lexi! I missed you!" She said pulling back. Looking me up and down I saw her eyes light up. "You look good." She said approvingly.
"Told you." I shot out to Chris. Hearing his laughter had me looking over Carmen's shoulder to Dillon.
"Hey Dillon." I murmured quietly. Gently reaching around Carmen, Dillon grabbed me and pulled me in for a giant hug.
"Good God Lexi. Don't you ever scare me like that again. I thought we lost you forever." He murmured into my hair. A few minutes later I heard a soft growl behind me. Reaching out my hand, I grabbed Chris' and squeezed. Dillon finally let me go after another minute. Reaching around me to take Chris' hand, he greeted him pleasantly.
"Good morning Beta Dillon." Chris returned warmly. Turning to Carmen he hugged her quickly. "We will have to have you guys visit soon. Lexi missed you." He said slightly nudging me. Shooting him a glare, I caught Xavier's eye. Chris turned towards the two Alpha's.
"Alpha Merritt! Good to see you! How is that baby of yours?"
"Strong as an ox. Emily, bless her soul is going to have her hands full!" He said with a chuckle. Turning to me, he grabbed my hand and shook it.
"Alpha Merritt. You must be Luna Lexi. Alpha Chris and the previous Alpha speak highly of you." he told me with a twinkle in his eye.
"Nice to meet you. They better have spoken highly of me! They won't get their cinnamon rolls otherwise." I told him conspiratorially winking. Looking past him I nodded briefly at Xavier.
"Alpha Xavier."
"Lexi! Good god! Where the hell were you?" Xavier started in.
"Alpha Xavier." Chris growled out warningly.
"No, Chris. She is still part of my pack and I demand an answer." Xavier thundered out.
"You deserve nothing." I spat out at him. Pushing Chris back from his protective stance I stalked towards Xavier, as Dillon told everyone to just let us have it. We needed to get it out of our systems.
"How can you say that?" He hissed out. "After everything we've been through!" Watching his eyes change to their amber tones, I could feel my wolf clawing to be let out. I could feel my eyes changing and my hair growing longer.
"Everything we've been through? What part of that do you mean? Where you sold me to the devil without a care in the world?! Or where you tried to sabotage my treatment for your sick twisted sense of needing forgiveness. Or how about the part where you forgot about everything we had and traded it for a mate who didn't want you in the first place!" I roared out at him. The clearing became silent as we circled each other. Watching as he bunched up, I set myself up and snarled as his clawed hand snaked through the air. Hearing Chris behind me growling set my wolf further on edge. Turning to face Xavier, I leveled my gaze at him before jumping and shifting.
