2 days later

Sitting on the edge of the bed I began to remove the bandages that were wrapped around my back. The salve that the doctor had made had numbed my back considerably after the first 2 whippings. The third still stung. Biting down as I felt the bandages cling at the bottom I slowly peeled them off before standing to wait. Hearing the footsteps down the hall at precisely 7:30 made me grimace. Biting my tongue I held my head up high as Greg strolled through the door. Watching his smirk I wanted to punch him in the face but I knew I didn't have the energy. Striding forward I started to walk towards the post before I heard him following me.

"Ready to give up yet April?"

"I'd rather die." Hearing his his of a breath I kept walking towards the post. Coming out the doors, I saw that the crowd for today was a small one. Only a few of the challengers that I had previously beaten remained to watch today's punishment. Smirking at them I walked to the post and held out my hands. Once they were firmly bound to the post I let my mind start to drift away as I heard the snap of the whip. Biting my lip, I felt the first lash before a loud thunderous crackling noise could be heard. Turning to the side I saw flames rising above the tops of several building. Barking out orders, Greg and the wolves took off to subdue them. Still tied to the post I lowered my forehead to it before I heard the footsteps approaching. Jerking my head up I kicked back with one of my legs only to hear a familiar cursing.

"God Dammit Lexi, for second can you just play damsel in distress?"

"Sorry Dillon, you know I don't damsel very well." chuckling weakly I watched his shadow approach before he gently began to remove the ties around my wrists. Stepping back from the pole I watched him look me up and down. Swearing he grabbed my hand and began to pull me towards the woods. Stumbling through I had to stop and try to catch my breath before I heard the swift apology as Dillon quickly picked me up. Swearing I buried my face in his neck to cut off the scream as he took off running again. 15 minutes later I felt us slowing down before coming to a stop. Hearing people shouting I thought about lifting my head up but I was just so tired. I could feel my eyes closing when we started walking again. Feeling Dillon place me gently on a surface I weakly opened my eyes to see a bright light in front of them. Yelping I tried to cover them before I felt my hands being grabbed.

"Lexi, I need you to calm down while I check you over." Rachel's firm voice admonished me. Taking in several deep breaths I tried to calm myself as I let her poke and prod before walking behind me. Swaying slightly I heard her telling me something before I slumped over and passed out on the table.
