1 Day Later
Hearing the low murmurs near my ear I kept my eyes tightly shut and tried to keep my breathing relaxed. Listening I could hear Dr. James talking to a woman. Racking my brain I tried to remember yesterday when it all came rushing back to me. Jerking upright I looked over to see Rachel showing James around the room, murmuring lowly. Looking around I could see we were in Xavier's pack house infirmary. I made a strangled sound in my throat which had Rachel rushing over. Listening to her grab my face and begin to examine me I caught her off guard as I grabbed her in a tight hug. Hugging me back we stood like that while I cried. Hearing her whisper something to James I missed it as sobs continued to wrack my body. Feeling her soothing pats I was soon left in a sniffling, hiccuping mess. Slowly pulling out of my arms she grabbed my face again and began to look me over carefully. Starting with a blinding light in my eyes, making me hiss, she slowly worked her way to my back. I briefly registered the bandages pulling slightly before she was removing them to look over the area. Sitting there while she looked me over for a few minutes I was startled out of the silence when Rachel started to ask me questions.
"Lexi, do you feel this?" Waiting for a few minutes I slowly shook my head.
"What about this?" Shaking my head again I waited while she continued to look at my back.
"What about here?"
"Slightly." Hearing her sigh I watched her walk in front of me and look at the chart at the foot of my bed.
"Rachel, what's up?"
"Lexi, you couldn't feel anything on your back." She spoke slowly and deliberately.
"That's probably just the pain meds then?" I asked, my voice was taking on a slight panic.
"That's what I thought but you haven't been on anything for close to 12 hours. Some feeling should have returned." She said with a slight puzzled expression. Hearing a commotion outside the door, I saw 5 bodies tumble inside. Glancing over I saw Xavier, Dillon, Matt, Chris and Dr. James sprawled out on the floor. Quickly recovering they all stood and started to brush off their clothes. Slitting my eyes I watched them all start to walk over to me before I let out a growl. Staggering back a step they all looked at me warily.
"Alpha Chris and Xavier, I need you two to leave please. Her wolf won't let you near her right now and I have to make sure that her wolf is kept calm right now." Talking respectfully but sternly to the boys I watched them about to protest before I growled at them again. Matt and Dillon stayed where they were for a moment, giving my wolf a second to calm down. After a few minutes had passed I was able to glance up at the two of them.
"How's it going guys?" I asked sheepishly.
"Little bit better since you're here. Carmen about chewed my off yesterday. Dillon, you better be careful with my Lexi you big nit wit. I swear to God boy if you hurt her anymore I'll kill you myself." He said changing his voice to a higher pitch for Carmen's imitation. Striding over he plopped onto the bed next to me. Matt stood a little ways back watching me. Smiling at him I opened my arms. Walking over her quickly enveloped me into a warm hug. Squeezing him tightly I could feel the tears well up in my eyes as I broke down a second time this morning. Matt just held me as Dillon gently patted my leg. Eventually pulling myself together I pulled back from Matt. Wiping the snot on the back of my hand, earned a laugh from the two of them.
"Sorry, I seem to be falling apart today."
"We heard. Dr. Rachel asked for the two of us to come and hopefully cheer you up." Dillon said with a grin. Giving him a suspicious look I watched his face for a minute.
"You're just going to brag to Carmen about getting to see me aren't you?"
"Would I do that?" Dillon said looking offended. Smiling I patted the bed to encourage Matt to sit down as I ignored Dillon's question. We talked for a bit longer before I could feel myself getting tired. Seeing this Rachel and James kicked them both out with a promise that they could see me tomorrow. Both of the doctor's now were taking turns to examine me as I felt my eyelids starting to close. Shaking my head slightly I startled both Doctor's who had been looking at the fading bruises around my collar bone.
"Lexi, when was the last time you shifted?" Rachel asked me lightly while grabbing my chart. Thinking back on it I kind of shrugged my shoulders a bit.
"Since before I got taken? I don't remember." Frowning I tried to think hard about the last time I could remember shifting.
"Lexi, Dr. James and I think the reason you're healing so slow is because you haven't shifted in several months is appears. We are going to have you undress behind the curtain and shift for us." Shrugging I struggled to my feet before swaying slightly. Catching myself I held a staying hand out to the doctors before walking gingerly towards the curtain, stripping off the little gown I forced the change. Crying out I felt bones breaking and the pain before I finally collapsed in my wolf form. Panting heavily I struggled to get up before whining at the two Doctors. Peaking their heads around the screen they moved it and began to fuss over my wolf. Watching my reflexes and observing my physical qualities, they eventually let me shift back. The shift was slow and painful as I felt fingers forming and my jaw shortening. Screaming out I eventually lay in human form. Rushing forward Rachel covered me back in the gown before having James help her to get me standing. Walking over to the bed, I fell asleep almost instantly.
