Y/N's sobs tore through the silent night, her tears tainting her cheeks as she clutched her emerald necklace. "Ellie... Why wasn't it me?" Her sobbing increased and she pulled the necklace closer to her, holding it tighter. Bringing the necklace to her lips, she mumbled soft words against the heart-shaped emerald. Meliodas watched all of this from a distance, straining to understand her quiet whispers. He soon understood her to be... Singing? Her sweet voice rang through the darkness as she sang.

"That was a really nice song." Y/N's head sprang up, her tears still flowing down her cheeks. "C-Captain!" Her cheeks flushed with color. Meliodas stepped forward and scooped Y/N into a warm hug. "I- I used to sing that song to my sister whenever she was upset. Today would've been her fiftieth birthday..." Her quiet sobs caused Meliodas' own heart to clench with sadness, and he held her tighter. "Don't cry..." Y/N looked up at him and smiled, tears still flowing out of her eyes, but instead of the teardrops running down her cheeks and hitting the ground, Meliodas wiped them off and hugged her closer, bringing her head to rest on his chest. And that was when Y/N fell in love, even if she denyed it.
