"The fact that they haven't spoken to each other yet is amazing." Ban whispered to King as they watched Meliodas and Y/N eat next to each other in passve aggresive silence.

"I know." King agreed. "I thought for sure Y/N would've broke by now."

"Y/N?" Ban questioned. "Nah, it'd definetely be the Captain. She's a cold hearted woman."

"No, she's defintely not the kind of person to keep a grudge." King insisted.

"Are we talking about the same Y/N?" Ban asked, echoing his words from earlier.

"She's only cold towards you." King said. "Probably did something to deserve it." He continued under his breath.

"It doesn't matter. Cap's a total softie, especially towards her." Ban said, stuffing the rest of his food into his mouth.

"Y/N's the exact same way!"

Meliodas was too busy ignoring Y/N to notice the small twitch of her eye and how her grip on her fork tightened as she listened to their conversation.

And of course Y/N was far to busy ignoring Meliodas to notice the way his nose furrowed slightly and his mouth settled into a disapproving line as he listened to his friends babble about what was none of their business. She was definitely too occupied with avoiding him to notice his worried eyes when she went to bed earlier than usual.

That night when Meliodas was finally ready to go to be, he placed his blankets next to hers. Y/N sucked in a breath and broke. "Why'd you do that for?"

Meliodas sighed and scooted over to her. "Listen, Y/N. I know that you can fight, I really do."

Y/N flipped over to face him. "You're right." She said. "But I'd rather not fight with you."

Meliodas smiled, eyes sparkling. "Deal."

The next morning things were back to normal, besides everyone pestering the captain and right hand woman about who cracked first. They were ignored and the camp was packed up quickly. They headed out to where the criminal was last spotted and looked around to find something to track him with. Meliodas and Y/N kept glancing at each other, until Y/N walked over and said, "I won't die. You can stop checking on me."

"Right back at ya," Meliodas said. "But just in case why don't you stick next to me?" Y/N let out a reluctant laugh and began searching with him. They did find something, eventually.

"See, we're a good team!" Meliodas said as they sprang backwards from the gruesome creature crawling at them.

"If finding a zombie thief is good to you, I think we have a different definition of the word." Y/N said, kicking at the rotting corpse in front of her.

"What about a band of zombie thieves?" Meliodas asked, gesturing to the growing horde in front of them. Y/n groaned in response.

The Sins fought thief after thief until they decided that they had enough fun for one day. "Alright, I'm shutting this down." Diane called.

"Cool, I'm getting kind of tired of this repetitive mush!" Y/N shouted back. Diane laughed, which quickly turned into a shrill "CAPTAIN!"

Y/N turned around to see Meliodas being slashed open by a zombie. She quickly grabbed his sword and finished the zombie before dragging him off and encasing him in a force field. "You just had to do something stupid, didn't you?" She scolded, wadding her shirt into the wound.

"Well, it doesn't really matter, does it?" Meliodas asked, earning him a look of confusion. "I told you, I won't die."

Y/N laughed, burying her head into his shoulder. "Alright, alright. I'm not mad anymore."
