"Come on, honey. It's just like my younger sister always said, 'You only have to last until tomorrow.' Just until tomorrow." Y/N whispered to the young girl, who's name was Heldy, under her care. Heldy's eyes widened and she smiled at Y/N before coughing violently.

"Y-Y/N, please, make sure that Theo doesn't get hurt..." Heldy strained to say before slipping into an eternal sleep. Y/N nodded through tears, pushing the girl's bright pink air out of her face,  before sighing and walking out of the room to inform Meliodas of Heldy's death. The Sins had run into a sick household on their way to the castle and decided to take care of them. By the time they had gotten there, only Heldy and her two younger brothers were still alive and they had come in to see a sickening Heldy taking care of her youngest brother, who was on the verge of death. The other boy, Theo, was still healthy at the time, but fell ill shortly after Heldy was bedridden and their younger brother passed away. Theo had died a few days earlier, but none of the Sins had the heart to tell Heldy.

Y/N, lost in her own thoughts of how similar she and Heldy were, walked straight into Ban, who shoved her into an empty room and closed the door. Y/N rubbed her temples, too tired to put up a fight. "Do you need something, Ban?" She asked, inching slowly towards the door. Ban didn't reply. Y/N sighed, turning around to lean against the wall.

"I could save her." Y/N said. "Elaine, I mean. It wouldn't be hard, and I'd gladly help you."

Ban frowned. "Who told you about Elaine..?" Y/N sighed.

"You did." She said while rolling her eyes. "Or, at least, your memories did." She amended, tapping Ban's forehead. Ban groaned, remembering that Y/N often saw memories instead of dreams, which was a nuisance in his opinion.

He was broken out of his annoyance with an impatient, "So?" from the H/L haired girl.

"No. It was my promise to Elaine, not yours." Ban said, bringing a proud smile to Y/N's lips. "But if you can do that, why don't you just save Ellie?" He questioned. Y/N paused, her eyes narrowing.

"How did you find out about Ellie? Only the captain-" She froze, coming to a realization. "I'm going to kill  him," She hissed at Ban before pulling him down to her height.

"Listen here, Fox." Y/N spat. "Ellie is none of your business, but since you're asking, I'll tell you why I can't do that." Seeing that Ban was about protest, she said, "Elaine became my business the moment your  memories shoved their way into my  sleep, so shut your mouth." Y/N's tone grew more icy by the second. "We Memory-Watchers can't go back memories that directly affect our family. Ellie is dead, she wouldn't even be at the Necropolis. And by dead, I mean that the Universe doesn't even remember that she ever existed." She pulled Ban down further and whispered in his ear, "Do you understand now, Fox? The only thing that's left of Ellie is in this necklace that I wear every single day, and once I'm done releasing her soul completely, I'll be the only one who remembers her life, because I'm the one who loved her most." Y/N  let go of her comrade, walking out of the door and leaving Ban to wonder.

If Y/N died, who would remember her?

An Important Note:

(No, seriously this has to do with the plot) The reason why Y/N's family suffers such symptoms from a death of a loved one is because once the soul disapears, the existence of the loved one is only remembered by the person who loved that person most. That is the price Memory-Watchers (That's what Y/N calls herself) pay for being able to tamper with reality in such a way. And, in case you're wondering, Y/N is rare in her ability to go unnoticed, all of the other Memory-Watchers are perfectly noticed.
