Laurens's POV

I told Lafayette exactly what happened...I was exhausted though, forcing myself to stay awake so I could tell him everything. Every time I'd start to drift off, he'd lightly shake my arm. A couple of times I'd jump and almost smack him but once I realized it was him, I relaxed and apologized. I finished telling him about my misfortune and looked up at him, having pleading eyes.
"C-Can I go to sleep now...?" I asked, my voice coarse and my throat sore now... I hadn't pulled my hair back yet so Lafayette hadn't seen my black eye. I had a new deep-laying fear to be left alone in the tent down but I wouldn't voice this to him.
"Sure, of course you can mon amour." He said with a soft smile, helping me lay down and pulled my blankets over me. I tucked them under my chin and closed my eyes, my head falling asleep as soon as my head hit my pillow.
Lafayette's POV
I stared at him as he slept, reaching down and brushing his hair out of the way. My hand flinched away when I saw the bruise surrounding his eye. I hadn't noticed it earlier since he hid it with his hair. But as I stepped back and examined his current state, I felt tears roll down my cheeks.
'How could I let this happen to you? My love, my world, my everything... I should have been there to protect you... But I know that even though Lee has stolen from you, he didn't steal your innocence because nothing could damage yours. He will pay for taking advantage of you like this. I promise.' I thought to myself as I wiped away my tears. I turned and left the tent, wanting to settle the score with Lee. I had my mind set on seeing the blood pour from Lee's veins as he begged for mercy.
"You just f**ked with the wrong Frenchman."
