Lafayette's POV
I had felt better since John forgave me but my chest still had the sense of dread. Something was bound to happen and I could tell it was going to be terrible. We were back on the battlefield, firing away at the redcoats but no one could seem to focus. John was trying his best, so was I. It was hard though because I kept fighting the urge to protect him from every bullet and thought about trying to stay alive. Hercules was distracted to. He seemed more angry than normal and was firing like crazy at anyone who dared to even look at John. I found that expected but I didn't expect his reckless actions to follow suit. Everyone was still making a big deal about Lauren's duel... we needed Hamilton back, he would keep order while the General was gone... but he was home and there was nothing we could do about it now... I aimed for a red coat running straight for me, almost catching me off guard. I gritted my teeth and shook my head so I could focus more.
Laurens's POV
I fired my rifle and reloaded, wishing I could use my pistol but I was saving that for close range. I was back to being by Lee, he had made a recovery and was allowed to be back on the field. I swore that I wouldn't pick any fights with him and I hadn't, actually we hadn't spoken to each other. There was the occasional grunt or so to one another as a to say yes or no to thoughts on postions. We switched sides once and a while when one needed to reload. Small hand signals were exchanged as to say move in or out of the firing line. No, no words were spoken, not a single one. I looked at Lafayette only a few times to see if he was ok then I'd check on Hercules who was more concerned about me.
"Mulligan, I'm fine! Look out for yourself!" I called as a bullet whizzed right past his ear, missing him by a few inches. The battle was growing more intense as the gun fire from the redcoats seemed to have increased. I looked back at the men in front of me and then looked to Lee, who signaled that we should move it and get closer. I nodded and did as he said, a fire beginning to flicker in my stomach as my heart raced. I moved forward as did my fellow men. I took a deep breath and moved quickly, using my swift agility as key. I fired my rifle and grinned at they dropped one by one.Lee's POV
I followed behind John, keeping an eye on him. I was still furious with him for challenging me and shooting me in the side but I couldn't help but feel respect for him. But also the fact that once I heard what happened between him and Lafayette, I kinda felt bad. But i also figured this was my chance to prove I wasn't just a jerk and that I did care about him. I watched as he took the redcoats down with ease but I also saw a redcoats that was hidden and I could tell by the aim, he was looking to kill John. I aimed my gun to the redcoat and pulled the trigger just as he did. But his aim changed and he wasn't aiming for John anymore. He was aiming for me.
