After I took the nap that Laf had advised me to take, I sat up in my cot and rubbed my eyes. I yawned and felt my hair framing my face.

"Aw crap... My hair came undone..." I pouted and looked around for a hair ribbon but I couldn't find one. I huffed and swung my feet over the side, placing them on the ground. I felt grass between my toes and giggled slightly, thinking that it was actually a nice feeling. I remembered when I was a kid; my mom would sit outside and watch me run around, like a wily little ball of turtle loving weirdness. I'd always run around outside bare foot and with the turtle I use to have... I shook my head and came out of my memories, but I wondered a little on how my mother would have reacted if she could see me now. I got up and walked over to where I had my uniform and got dressed. I fixed my coat and came out of my tent, looking around for Lafayette because I was in dire need for a hair ribbon and I figured he'd have one I could use. Though it upset me that I had lost my other one because my mom had used it for my hair when I was a tiny little goof-ball. I found Laf sitting on that hill that we had sat on and got to know each other.

I ran over to him and was calling his name, waving my hand in the air. He turned around and smiled at me, waving back. He patted a spot next to him for me to sit down. I sat down next to him, brushing my hair back.

"Hey Laf! Um, you don't happen to have a spare hair ribbon do you?" I asked with a slight chuckle.

"You're in luck; I happen to always carry a spare one with me. I don't use it, I prefer my purple one." He said and pulled one out of his pocket. I graciously took it and looked at it. It was blue, it matched my uniform. I had usually used a white one, it was the only one I had. I smiled and twirled it around my thumb, humming as I did so but my humming turned into soft singing without my knowledge of it.

"I don't see why you keep pulling up your hair, don't get me wrong mon amie, it's beautiful tied up but vos cheveux sont beaux bas." He said, twirling a few of my curls around his index finger. I didn't know what he meant to I tilted my head in confusion.

"Your hair is beautiful down." He laughed as he translated for me. I turned bright red and hid my face in my hands. He continued to twirl my hair and asked me to sing again because he heard me earlier. I don't know why but I wanted to sing for him, I didn't feel embarrassed to. I took in a silent deep breath and began to sing for him.

"I may not live to see our glory... But I will gladly join the fight... And when our children tell our story... They'll tell the story of tonight." I said in G major, laying next to him and let him keep twirling my hair. 'I swear I'm not going to lose this ribbon." I promised myself.
