Lafayette's POV

After proving to Hercules that Laurens wrote that poem, I put the book back where I found it. A soldier came running to find me and told me that Washington wanted to see me immediately. I hurried to the general's tent, wondering what was so urgent. I lifted up the flap and came inside to see Washington pacing back and forth. He looked up at me and sighed in relief.
"Oh thank god, Lafayette I need you to go and search for the scouting group. They were supposed to be back hours ago." He said. I tensed and nodded,
"Of course, sir! I will go right away." He told me I could take a horse with me, then I turned and left the tent. I rushed over to the stallions in their makeshift corral. I leaped onto the white stallion's back and jumped over the fencing. Racing through the camp, I directed the horse in the direction that the scouting group went in. My heart was racing and fear was drowning my senses. John was suppose to be in the group, and they were suppose to be back hours ago.... What could have happened to them to make them so late? What if the British attacked them and they... My eyes widened with my thoughts. I made the horse go faster, wanting to find Laurens and my friends as soon as possible.

Narrator POV

The white stallion was racing through the woods, letting Lafayette lead him through the trees. A snake came out from the tangled bushes and the horse reared up on his back legs, whinnying in fear. Lafayette shouted and forced the horse to keep going. The sky seemed to become clouded, and the horizon appeared to be red as he rode towards it. Heat rose and engulfed the two of them. Lafayette pulled back of the reigns and the horse went up on its hind legs. Stumbling towards them was Alex, Burr, and Lee. But there was no Laurens. Alex had Burr's arm over his shoulder and was helping him walk, so was Lee. Lafayette looked behind them at the fire, jumping from tree to tree, coming closer. He jumped down from the horse and helped Burr onto the back of the horse. Alex and Lee kept up with the stallion Lafayette as they moved away from the flames. When they were far enough away, Lafayette got off the horse and got in Alex's face.
"Where's Laurens?! Where is he?!" He demanded, worried out of his mind.
"The British captured him...." was all that was said, and it was Lee that said it.
