Chapter 31

Lafayette's POV

I came into the camp, inconspicuously and snuck over the horse's corral. But as I was about unlatch it, Washington came up to me.
"Marquis, what are you doing?" He asked me, having a serious and stern voice. I jumped and spun around to face him.
"Washington, sir, I was going to take a horse with me and do a quick scouting route. To make sure that the Brits aren't anywhere near the camp." I said, thinking on my feet. He stood there for a moment, probably deciding wether or not to believe me then he nodded.
"Very good... but please, take a gun with you and don't fire unless necessary." He said with a sigh before turning and walking away. I sighed in relief and took the pure white horse out of the corral. I walked the stallion down to the tree, humming. I stopped at the top of the hill, looking down at Laurens who was waiting under the tree. Pink petals from the tree fluttered in the warm summer breeze. They seemed to outline John and all his quintessential features. I beamed and felt paralyzed from the love I had for him... I held onto the horse's reins and walked down the hill to him.
"Ready to go, mon amie?" I asked him. He nodded, exhilaration lacing his eyes and his smile didn't betray his emotions. I chuckled softly and let go of the reins.
"You first, John." I said politely and held out a hand to help him mount the horse. Once he was on, I mounted the stallion as well. Laurens had a hold of the reins and i put my hands on top of his, helping him direct the horse towards the woods. But I didn't know we were being followed...

Lee's POV

I saw Lafayette and Laurens mount the same horse and I grew curious. I waited for them to start walking the horse before deciding to follow them. This was my chance to figure out what was going on, I wasn't going to pass this chance up. I stayed in the shadows, keeping my dagger in my belt.
"Time to figure out what you two are playing at." I whispered before walking and keeping their trail, never loosing it.
