Lafayette's POV

I walked to Lee's tent, resisting the burning desire to grab my pistol and blow his fucking brains out. I was growing sick of people hurting my John Laurens, he didn't deserve this. He was so innocent and pure, why would anyone want to hurt him this badly? More that once at that... I was beginning to create a hit list for the people that hurt him, and I was even considering putting myself on that list for the next time I hurt him... I barged into Lee's tent, he wasn't there though. I gritted my teeth and swore under my breath, turning and stomping out of the tent. He knew I'd find out, he did the smart thing and ran. Hercules came over to me, grabbing me by the arm as I tried to walk away.
"Lafayette, stop, you're not going to find him here...He went running, just stop... John would ask you to do this, you'll only upset him more..." he pleaded with me. I thought carefully about what he was saying and I decided that he was right. John wouldn't ask for anyone to be hurt for him, that's not how he was. He'd rather suffer pain for someone else than for them to get hurt. That was another thing I loved yet hated about his personality. His dauntlessness and courageousness, it was something to behold but it also got him into horrible situations through reckless actions.
"You're right..." I sighed, lying slightly because I'd still be going to get him back.
"Come on, let's go to bed.. it's been a long day for everyone..." he said softly, walking with me back to the tent.
'Some more than others...' I thought sadly. We went into the tent and put on night clothes then retired for the night. I laid on my cot and watched Laurens in his peaceful state of slumber. Then a thought came to me.
I imagined the freckles on his cheeks like the stars in the sky, lighting his face up with beauty and poise... I smiled and fell asleep, keeping the imagine in my head.
