Bad boys baby

The proposal

               The cold Chicago air whipped us across our faces when we stepped outside the door onto the porch. Grace was covering herself with her arms shivering. It wasn't that long of a walk to the Christmas tree but I could tell Grace was really cold.

              "Baby are you sure you wanna walk their we could just take my car" I said

              "No it's fine babe I wanna walk I love the snow" She smiled her cheeks getting a rosy color from the cold

               "Okay baby come here" I said putting my arm around her shoulder

              She had her hands inside my hoodie hugging herself and I had my arm around her trying to give her some of my body heat. I am always hot so I loved when it was cold.

             "Where are we going?" She asked

             "It's just a little bit further baby" I said kissing her head that had snowflakes in it

              I started to fidget and move my hand around in my pocket. I was looking for the ring and I was scared I left it at home but after searching my jacket I found it in the pocket on the inside sitting safely in the red velvet box. I was starting to get so nervous because the tree was up ahead and I knew that this proposal wasn't gonna be everything she wanted and I was upset that I couldn't make it something she would remember. Grace was such a hopeless romantic she was all hearts and flowers and I just never could give her that.

              "The Christmas tree" She said more of a question

              "Yeah baby isn't it beautiful, I wanted to take you here because this is the most romantic place I could think of taking you" I gushed

              "It's so pretty I always wanted to come here but I didn't have anyone to go with since we met last year after Christmas time this was already way gone" She said looking around

               It was a pretty sight. The tree was probably about 13 feet tall and it was a big bushy tree that was decorated with a bunch of rainbow lights and ornaments all over the bottom of it where people could reach and then  it was just lights. Their was garland and big fake presents sitting around.

              "It's almost as pretty as you" I cooed in her ear

              "Aw jakey" She gushed

               I always hate when she uses that nickname for me around people because it made me look soft but she was so adorable when she said it I couldn't even get mad.

               I walked her closer to the tree and she was looking up at it. I was stalling and I knew I was. I was so nervous about asking her this question and I don't even know why I was almost positive she would say yes but it was al the nerves in my body building up making the anxiety I have a million times worst I felt like my heart was gonna explode out of my chest.

             I thought now or never. I fished around in my pocket for the red velvet box. My hands were numb from the cold and I could barley pick the box up. I got down on the ice my knee instantly getting cold and I opened the box and took a deep breath.

              "Grace baby turn around" I said

                She did.

              "Baby we've been together for so long and we've been through so much and you've made me the happiest guy ever since the day I met you. I know we're young and we're only 17 and we're gonna have a baby soon and this might be a stupid idea but will you marry me Grace?"

                Her eyes were almost as red as her cheeks from the cold. The smile on her face was plastered their and she started to nod her head really fast and then all my nerves went away.

               "Yeah" I said sliding the ring on her finger

              She smiled down at the ring admiring it. It wasn't anything to special but the diamond was pretty decent being in the gang payed off well so now I'm only getting money from selling drugs and I'll tell you it's a lot less money.

              "I'm speeches Jake I never thought this is what you were gonna do tonight" She gushed

             "I was hoping you didn't know that was the plan" I smiled

             "I love it babe it's so pretty" She said looking at the ring again

            "Nobody else knows I proposed" I laughed

             "Was this a spontaneous event?" She asked curiously

            "Sorta like two days ago I decided I wanted you to be my wife" I said

"Awww Jakeyy" She gushed

"Let's get out of here and get you home your shivering" I said covering her shoulders trying to warm her up

We walked back home and it didn't take us long. I held her hand the whole way back and gave her my jacket because she was beyond cold. I was In just a t shirt but I didn't care because Grace was my main priority and if she was cold then I was gonna give her the shirt off my back to keep her warm.

I could see my house getting closer and closer through the heavy snow that was falling rapidly. We ran up to the porch and the screen door slammed behind us. Rico was asleep on the couch with a Santa hat still on his head and he was shirtless with red adidas pants hanging low on his waist so you could see his Calvin Kline boxers sticking out of the top.

"Shh" I said putting a finger over my mouth and pointing over to Rico

She giggled to herself and started to brush the snowflakes off her clothes. She followed me to the kitchen and I got to mugs out of the cabinet and filled them with water before putting them in the microwave.

"Babe can you get two hot chocolate packets" I asked

"Of course. Here baby" She smiled handing them to me

I took the mugs out of the microwave and put the hot chocolate packages in the water and stirred them around. Grace sipped the hot coco and smiled at me. This is exactly where I wanna be its the perfect Christmas with my baby here.
