The next day, Bridget took Faolan down to the river that curled behind the mountain and deeper into the forest to fish, since Faolan had barely any food on him. Being a restaurant employee, he didn't have many spare food supplies besides a few porkchops.

They sat on the bank, letting their feet dangle in the water and watching their white-and-red bobbers float in the river.

As they talked, Faolan realized that Bridget was actually a caring and funny person. She was very soft-spoken when she wasn't angry, and her blonde hair rippled in the breeze. She laughed at the stories that Faolan told about his customers, and always put in her feedback.

"So, this one time, I go up to a villager named Kat. She works with redstone a lot. Kat's a little shy, but she opens up like a flower," he said. "Anyway, Kat said, 'You know, Faolan, I think that my eyesight might be going bad.'

"I was like, 'What? Why?' And Kat told me, 'Well, yesterday, I got back from mining and had found three diamonds. I forgot to put them in a chest and started to craft noteblocks, only to realize that I was crafting jukeboxes instead of noteblocks, and wasted all three of my diamonds on them.'"

Bridget chuckled and shook her head. "Well, that would suck. They're almost the same thing though."

Faolan reeled in his line and said, "Almost. But not quite."

He pulled the line up and revealed a clownfish on the end. "Oh, wow. Never caught one of those before."

"Nope. Hey, maybe we should go hunting, too; Kyle won't need us back 'till sundown and cooked fish doesn't have as much saturation as steak or porkchops. Do you even have a sword?" Bridget asked, skeptically.

Faolan nodded and pull out a stone sword. "Yeah, but it's kind of used."

"That's okay. Just follow me. I know all the best game trails in this forest."

Bridget stood up front the riverbank and started to make her way into the forest behind the mountain, and Faolan scrambled after her. She weaved gracefully between the trees like she was raised among them, while Faolan swerved around them, pushing off the trunks. He liked nice, open spaces better than close, cramped forests, like restaurants or villages. Forests made him feel claustrophobic.

He glanced at Bridget, who was looking at him expectantly. "Oh. Was there a question?"

She rolled her eyes and said, "Do you think you can kill that chicken?" Bridget pointed at an lone chicken walking along the path.

Faolan nodded and pulled out his sword again. Back at the restaurant, he would always go to the butcher's place for meat, so he pretty was used to it. Celeste went there once and became a vegetarian.

He carefully approached the chicken, not trying to make too much noise to scare it away, but also acting nonchalant. The chicken stared at him with its strange, crossed eyes, then looked away and continued walking. Faolan brought his sword down then, and with an anguished squawk, the chicken was only feathers and meat bobbing up and down on the grass. Faolan picked them up and put them in his inventory.

He knew not to eat the chicken right away, as it could give you food poisoning if uncooked. He had made that mistake in the restaurant's early days. Faolan and Celeste knew they were lucky that their place hadn't been shut down for that.

"Great. Let's move on, then, I'm hoping for a cow." Bridget said and started to continue down the path. Faolan trailed after her, listening to the sounds of the rustling leaves and grass.

Crunch, crunch, went his feet as he walked. He suddenly felt self-conscious, and a strange burning sensation started on the back of his neck. He looked around and called, "Bridget. Bridget!"

"What?" She said, rather loudly.

"Something's wrong," he replied softly.

Bridget warily looked around, then froze. Faolan saw something move between the trees in his peripheral vision. It couldn't have been an animal, since they had come that way and nothing was nearby. Faolan and Bridget's gazes met, and they knew the same thing.

They were being followed.
