The Descendents fell upon the soldiers. Gale drew his sword and leapt at Cassanova, who brought out her own enchanted blade. Sapphire followed him, cape billowing behind her. Amia stumbled back, her translucence flickering. Hastily, she drew her bow and shakily started to aim it. The gold-eyed girl and the boy in the yellow shirt darted into the fray, slithering around and past soldiers and landing blows like deadly snakes. Bridget drew her sword and lunged at one of the soldiers. Faolan jumped in last, hoping that he wouldn't get killed like he almost did the last time he fought a patrol.

He dodged a blow and slashed his sword across his attacker's shoulder. He growled in pain and stabbed at Faolan's chest, which he barely sidestepped in time. Faolan kicked the unbalanced soldier over and sliced his sword down his side. Just in time, an arrow flew into the soldier's arm and his health dissipated into nothing. In a few moments, he disappeared.

Swallowing a groan at his first kill, Faolan turned around. He saw that the blue-haired girl and the yellow-shirted boy were separated to the other side of the skirmish. The boy seemed to have handled this well; he had trapped his opponent in the shadows of the trees, darting to and fro them to land blows that the soldier just couldn't see when he was away from the moonlight.

As for the girl, she was cornered against a tree by another soldier. She feebly ducked and swept the soldier off his feet, but he landed a vicious blow on her legs. She fell down with a grunt, and the soldier managed to stand up.

Faolan put his sword back into his inventory and raised his hand, just like he did in training with JP. He let a burst of fire erupt from his open palm and it flew at the soldier's back. He screamed as his back caught fire and ran into the trees, only to fall over, dead, moments later. He ran over and helped the girl up.

"You okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, fine." Then, she said, "Oh, good, you're green."

Faolan stood there in silence for a few seconds, confused, before the yellow-shirted boy yelled out, "Karen!"

She dashed away to help him, and Faolan looked around again. Sapphire and Gale were handling Cassanova well, as was Bridget with her own soldier. The gold-eyed girl, Karen, was helping to pick off a soldier's health that the boy had trapped in a two-block deep hole. Then, he noticed that as Amia shakily aimed her bow, another soldier crept up on her, sword raised.

Faolan sprinted over and took out his sword. He jumped and landed a critical hit on the soldier, which surprised Amia and made her almost drop her bow and flicker. The soldier swept his sword in a wide arc, aiming for his neck. Faolan ducked and tackled the soldier from underneath him. He jumped up and landed the finishing blow.

"Amia, shoot Cassanova, quick," he exclaimed. "I have an idea."

"O-Okay," she replied and aimed her bow at the swift soldier, who was weaving around the two siblings. She fired her arrow, and the moment it left Amia's strings, Faolan shot a small stream of fire at the arrow. It encircled it like a flaming halo and struck Cassanova in the shoulderblade. She yelled out in pain and ripped the arrow out, leaving a torn and bloody hole in her white and dark gray uniform. She threw the arrow to the ground, leaving red burn marks on her hands and shoulder.

"Soldiers, retreat!" She called, and the remaining soldiers broke off and followed. Well, only one; Bridget had left hers alive. Once the two were gone, Gale asked, "Is everyone alright?"

A quiet chorus of yeah and I'm fine rose up, but Karen exclaimed, "Hunter's poisoned! Does anyone have milk?"

She held the boy in her arms, and he had a sickly green look on his face. Hunter was unconscious.

As Sapphire knelt next to them, Karen explained. "We had our soldier trapped in a hole, but he took out a splash potion of Poison and threw it. He ran right into the bottle and it got all over him. I managed to finish off the soldier but Hunter was already unconscious."

Sapphire nodded and took out a bucket filled with thick white liquid. "Alright, open the squirt's mouth. He won't like this, but the poison might kill him if we leave him alone for too long." Sapphire poured most of the liquid down the boy's opened mouth, and the green faded from his face.

"Put him on his own horse and attach it to yours with a lead so it doesn't wander off, and let's get back to the village." Gale instructed.
