That night, Faolan lay in his bed, staring up at the ceiling, lost in his thoughts. He sighed. There was a hurting inside him, and he knew it was homesickness. I wish Celeste was here. I always do.

There was a rustle from the other room and Bridget peeked through the doorway. "Can't sleep?" She whispered.

He shook his head and she stepped into the doorway. Her blonde hair looked silver from the moonlight spilling in the window.

"Neither can I," she said.

"Do you like it here?"

She looked away. "It's a fine place. Very secure. I like that. But I still wish that we could be traveling alone."

Faolan didn't answer immediately. "This place has given us a lot, though. Weapons, protection," he added quietly, "a home."

She smiled. "Yeah... you're right."

There was a brief pause, and then there was a bang on the door downstairs. Faolan hopped out of his bed and followed her down the ladder. They found Sapphire waiting for them.

"Gale assigned your guard days to this day. Let's go. You got your sword?" Sapphire queried.

"Um, yeah."

"Great. And put some armor on. We'll get you two a horse."

After he donned the iron boots and leggings from Onix and took out his enchanted blade, they traveled across the village to the main gates. Faolan marveled at how the whole place was dead quiet, with the exception of a few hostile mobs that milled around the village.

Sapphire veered away from the central path and walked alongside the main wall of obsidian, nearing a two-story stable of wood. Faolan stuffed his hands in his pockets as they neared it--he didn't want to catch fire from the anxiousness he was feeling.

Sapphire glided up the steps leading to the second story and beckoned for them to follow. She brought out a pair of horses and gave them to Bridget and Faolan. She took another's reins and they headed back out the gates, where Gale, Amia, another soldier with gold eyes and blue hair, and another one with a yellow shirt were waiting on their own steeds.

"Glad you could make it. Shall we go now?" Gale asked.

"Yes, everyone is ready. Which border?" Sapphire replied, jumping on her armored brown and white mare.

"East," he replied.

The patrol of seven galloped off into the fields, weapons in hand. They moved surprisingly quietly across the grass, and Faolan was surprised how well trained both the soldiers and the horses were. Gale's black stallion was like the alpha; he stopped and walked by the simple tug of the reins, and the rest followed. Bridget rode comfortably alongside Faolan, staring straight ahead, gaze emotionless. Sapphire occasionally spurted quiet information to Faolan, like how the boy with the yellow shirt had night vision and he usually came along scouting patrols.

Gale raised a hand, and everybody halted. They were on the farthest edge of the forest, with the village invisible in the distance. "It's sustained by a fraction of Herobrine's energy," Sapphire explained quietly from behind him. "It's only visible to a Descendant's eyes, or from a few blocks away."

He nodded and faced forward again. Gale pointed his sword into the forest and the scouts dismounted, weapons in hand.

Gale, at the head of the group, held a thumbs up to the villagers behind him. Faolan heard some rustling in the forest.

The blue-haired girl narrowed her eyes like she was trying to see something far away, and she exclaimed, "Arrow! Sapphire!" As if on cue, a flaming arrow burst out of the trees. Amia faded quickly to near invisibility from the fear, Onix ducked, and Sapphire brought up a gloved hand to shield her face, which the arrow was aimed directly at.

Faolan lunged forward and grabbed the arrow, only a block away from Sapphire. The flames did nothing to hurt him, and he quickly patted it out and threw the now-extinguished arrow to Amia, who was more or less back to her calm translucence.

"Seven soldiers, incoming, about ten seconds before they reach us," the girl said, her amber eyes flashing.

Everyone raised their weapons and by the time that Faolan had resumed defensive stance, the patrol of white-clothed soldiers--seven from the government--appeared. And in the front, smirking her lusting smile, was Cassanova.

She sneered and turned to one of her soldiers. "Get backup from camp. We'll hold them off."

Faolan heard Amia mutter, "I just want this idiotic war to end..."

Gale shouted, "Attack!"
