Bridget gasped. Faolan opened his eyes--he didn't even realize her had closed them--and looked down to see her glaring up at him, hazel eyes filled with defiance.
She whispered something like, "Lucky you," and let out a small cough just as her eyes focused on something in the distance. Her body went limp. Faolan pulled his sword away. Bridget's body faded away into white smoke, floating upwards to the sky and tickling his throat. He waved it away and the red tint around the spirit mist gradually began to melt away. He stared down at the sand, the glow of her eyes still branded in his memory.
Bridget was dead.
And I killed her.
As the red faded, his guilt did also. She had to die. She deserved worse. A lying, thieving, murdering creeper she was.
From behind him, he heard someone mutter, "You did it." Faolan looked back to see Sapphire a few blocks behind him, looking at where her pile of items lay. "You actually did it," she said again, louder.
"Yeah," he responded, self-conscious with his bloody sword in hand.
Sapphire turned and let out a ringing call. "Bridget is dead!"
The action slowed. First, it was just a few people that stopped and stared, then it was pretty much the whole of the battle.
Descendants of Notch cried out in panic and anger. Some started to run away from the battle, but Gale shouted from somewhere in the midst, "Don't let them leave! Finish them!"
His orders were followed. The Descendants spread out and rounded them back into the fight. Mobs surrounded the outside, picking off the ones who managed to get past the others. Faolan, JP, and Sapphire all ran back into the fray and fought like dragons.
Speaking of which, her battle also seemed to be going well. The Ender Dragon had Dark Star backed into one end of the arena, where he tried to catch the sleek dragoness in one of his explosions. She roared in defiance and swooped down, glinting claws outstretched and fangs bared. Knocking the huge cyan creeper to the ground, the dragon gave a mighty slash with her talons and the creeper fell still.
By that time, most of the enemies were dead or dying. In moments, the battlefield was empty except for the Descendants, Herobrine, the remaining mobs, and the Ender Dragon. Some brilliant fellow called out, "We won!"
They burst into cheers, spontaneously throwing swords and helmets in the air. "The battle is won! We have prevailed!" Gale shouted. From up above, Herobrine and his steed teleported down into the sandy arena. There was a triumphant smile on his face, even though he didn't really fight. The misty spirits gathered around behind him, also surrounding the Dragon, who loudly sat down a dozen blocks behind Herobrine, in the midst of the crowd of spirits.
With a terrible, choking feeling, Faolan gazed into the spirits and noticed one's black attire and blonde hair. The spirit returned his gaze with one the color of emerald.
Could it be...? Aldis? He realized with a jolt. Scanning the crowd quickly, he picked out a figure with long brown hair, a sweatshirt, and a sad blue eyes. With stinging eyes, he gave a tiny, weak wave at in his dead sister's direction. Celeste didn't reply, but there was a small smile on her face. Beside Faolan, Sapphire stiffened, and when he looked over, her gaze was mixed with sadness and anger and longing. She seemed to also be gazing at one of the spirits--one with spiky dark brown hair and a black shirt, open skin crisscrossed with scars. Sapphire didn't say anything, but she did give Gale a meaningful glance and Herobrine one of disgust, which confused Faolan a bit.
Herobrine ignored it and dismounted his horse, then addressed the Descendants and mobs. "Well done, warriors. You've defeated your enemy with courage and ferocity. I'm proud to have you all carry my blood." There were a few cheers and shouts. Faolan and Sapphire stayed silent, obviously shaken by the familiar spirits. "You vanquished Bridget and her followers, along with that nuisance, Dark Star. Your enemies will rest well in the Fields of Punishment." Faolan smiled. That was what Bridget deserved.
Sapphire grinned also, but something had caught her eye. She looked over, as did he. It caused a chain reaction of turning heads to see the bloody figure lying on the ground, not moving, but not dead, either.
Faolan stifled a gasp. It was the masked kid.
