"What do I do now? Do I text him or what?" my voice came out no larger than a whisper. I felt like I could be bowled over by a feather. I had never believed that people could really feel like they could be knocked over by a feather, but now I understood. Completely understood.
"Well... you should not text him for a little bit, you mustn't look too eager. But not ignoring him, like. I don't know! Just a 'what are you up to' kind of thing?" Sophie said with a blank look on her face.
"How can you be so calm?" I asked, surprised she wasn't shaking on the floor.
"I'm not."
*****Later that evening*****
Okay, I could do this. Just tap a few buttons then, you know, press that big button with 'send' on it. Why was it so hard now yet so easy normally?
"Sophie!" I yelled, needing a bit of fangirly support.
"Yeah?" Sophie answered.
"Come here!"
As she entered my room, she saw my phone in my hand, "Oh, gosh, did you already text him?!" she asked excitedly. I shook my head in return. "Then why did you call me?"
"I needed help. What should I send? Is this a good time to? What if he thinks I'm weird and strange and -"
"Hush. You'll be fine. Just send a really short text asking him what he's up to and if he had a good day. You probably shouldn't use shortened speech and no kisses! He'll think you really are weird then."
"Thanks. I mustn't let him know my true personality, can I now?" everything was so much easier with Sophie. Honestly, I'd be lost without her.
"Well, go on then."
Nervously, I quickly typed out a small text. It read, "Hey, how are you? Very sneaky of you to give me your phone number...".
"That's really good," Sophie said, beaming at me.
"Is it too casual?" I asked, worry plaguing my mind. "Will he think I'm weird?"
"No, you'll be fine. Go on, send it before I scream," Sophie replied, staring at the text as though it was offending her for not being sent already.
Alright, then. Here goes nothing! Hesitantly, I pressed send. Sophie and I waited, holding our breath until it said 'delivered'. "Now what do we do?" I asked Sophie, who always seemed to have the answer for everything.
"We wait." Sophie said, many emotions flashing across her face.
