A/N: Sooo... It's about time I updated. I think all that writing at the weekend, mixed with my English Common Assesment (blick, I'm rubbish at English) resulted in a lack of anything but wasting my life on the internet. I couldn't think what to write, so I skipped straight to Sophie and Phil's date. But all doesn't go to plan...

******************************************************************************************

(Gemma's POV)

"What time is your date again?" I asked Sophie. It was half past four, and I presumed it was around six, so we would have to start getting Sophie ready soon.

"Seven," she answered, not taking her eyes off the TV screen where she was watching an episode of Top Gear.

"I'll go pick you some outfits out then," I said. "Meanwhile, you should think about popping out and getting some new shower cream, with matching shampoo and conditioner for us both. We're nearly out." Sophie nodded before putting her shoes on and locking the door behind her.

I slowly dragged myself up the stairs to Sophie's room. She had told me they were going to a fancy restaurant, not a black tie occasion, but still smart attire. I peeked into her wardrobe and started pulling out a variety of dresses with matching heels.

"Hey!" Sophie yelled. "I'm back!"

"Come here, then," I called back, laying out the final of the six dresses onto her bed. "What do you think?"

Sophie entered the room and sighed. "I'll never be able to choose," she said after a moment of silence. "You pick for me."

I looked at the dresses and back over to Sophie. She had red and black hair, hazel eyes and a 5'10" figure. "Let's try the purple one first," I said. "If we tie the red back in your hair, and put black eyeliner on, it should go well."

**************an hour and a half later*****************

"Finished!" I exclaimed, stepping back from Sophie. She looked breath taking. In the end, we had chosen a purple dress with a black pattern winding up from the pinched waist to her shoulders, black heels and I had tied the red of her hair up but left the black curled, framing her face and her makeup natural.

"Just in time," Sophie said, looking anxiously at the clock. It was quarter to seven. I picked up one last thing - her favourite perfume which smelt of roses. I grinned at her and sprayed it onto her wrists and neck.

"Have you brushed your teeth?" I asked. Sophie shook her head and went to the bathroom. Smiling, I walked downstairs to wait for Phil's arrival. After a few minutes, Sophie joined me. It was now five minutes to. I handed her a matching handbag, with emergency makeup, mints, wipes, tissues, her phone, a mirror and other essentials.

"Thanks," Sophie muttered, straightening her dress as there was a knock on the door. I grinned at Sophie who looked like she was going to be sick and swung the door open. There stood... a strange man, not Phil. Sophie frowned as she saw him.

"How may I help you?" I asked politely, cautious of the size of him. He towered over me and looked very strong. To my horror, he pulled a knife out of his pocket and pointed it at me.

"Get back," he ordered. I obeyed, backing off as far as I could whilst I saw Sophie running to the closet and pulling her phone out. I knew that I had to buy her as much time as possible whilst she called the police.

"Who else is here?" The man barked.

"J-just me," I stuttered as I heard the faint click of Sophie locking the door. I was happy that she was safe. As long as I had breath in my body, I would protect her. The man looked around and nodded. He came towards me and I pressed myself against the wall. I had no escape.

"Get down," he said. I fell shakily to my knees and put my hands behind my head. Quick as a flash, he tied them up with rope and kicked me so I fell to the floor. He put a blindfold on me and shoved some material in my mouth. I heard him walking around and opening draws. What on earth was he searching for?

"Gemma!" I heard a cry. It was Dans voice.

"Stay away!" I heard the man bellow as I also heard Sophie leaving the closet and gasping, probably from the sight of me tied up on the floor. Unfortunately, I could hear the man was standing right by me, so I had no idea what to do.

(Sophie's POV)

I gazed desperately at Gemma who lay bound on the floor. She didn't look hurt but I was horrified at how close the man stood to her, with a knife pointing at her. I felt a tug on my arm and turned to see Phil looking at me.

"Are you alright?" Phil whispered. I nodded and muttered that I had called the police, not loud enough for the man to hear. Now, my job was to stop him from harming Gemma or escaping until the police arrived.

Dan stood about five meters from where the man and Gemma were, whilst Phil and I were about two meters behind him. I went to join Dan, but Phil stopped me. "No," he told me. "Don't get any closer. Run if you can."

"I would never run whilst Gemma lies in that position. She wouldn't do that to me either," I whispered furiously. Phil looked unsure, but nodded anyway and joined Dan whilst I hung back.

Dan was trying to negotiate with the man, pleading him to let Gemma go. All he got was a shake of the head and laughter, along with taunts as the man twisted the knife in his hand. The knife had to be at least ten inches long with a serrated edge, making me helpless as I wondered if Gemma would be okay.

Suddenly, the police burst in to the apartment, but I watched in slow-motion as the man turned and bought the knife down to Gemma's side, as Dan screamed and blood covered Gemma's shirt.

Gemma's blood, running from a huge wound in her side, as the life was already draining from her. Gemma, who lay on the floor, not myself, because I had heard her telling the man that she was the only one in this apartment.

My best friend, my sister - dying on the floor of our home, because she had tried to protect me. My knees buckled and my world went black.

A/N: Severe drama this chapter! Do you think Gemma will die? Will Sophie be okay? Probably, this fanfiction can't have a tragic end for two characters! Not that I'm saying anything... I might even be able to get the next chapter up soon! I was going to actually let Phil and Sophie have a proper date, but I changed my mind at the last minute...
