A/N: I don't want to sleep, so here I am, thinking about undone homework. I know I made a mistake in my last chapter, I'll probably correct it eventually. And eventually do my homework. And eventually revise. And do nothing while thinking about doing them.

(Sophie's POV)

My mind concentrated on nothing but the feeling of the knives in my hands. They were about ten inches long, made of strong metal, and had razor sharp edges. I let all my feelings of anger, love, hate, sadness, hope, happiness and despair go into my dance.

I flew around the room, coming close to hitting myself, but never doing so. It was just satisfying feeling the knives swish past me, so close to hurt, but never there. Me, showing the knives, the air, who was boss.

I finished with one knife parallel to my stomach, one behind my head, kneeling on the ground. Silence, then applause. I looked up and grinned.

"Good enough?" I asked. Everyone nodded quickly, looking awed at my skills. I smiled and placed the belt around my waist. I felt safe again, natural.

"There's no way I'm better than you," Gemma said.

"There is," I said, removing a picture from the wall, opening the safe there and removing Gemma's knives. "Give it a go."

She looked at me like I was barmy, but tentatively took the knives. They were about the same as mine, but slightly longer and thinner. She rested them in her hands and twirled them experimentally. We all backed away to the walls, giving her space as she begun to whirl the knives.

I was right. She was better than me. Only just, but still better. The boys wouldn't be able to tell, but I could tell from the way she held herself that she was a born fighter. I was a trained fighter, that's what gave her the edge.

She finally slowed down, panting. We applauded and Marcus replayed the video he took of her. It was an impressive sight.

"Well, we better be going," Marcus said. "I personally need a change of clothes and a shower."

Alfie nodded and Caspar added that he should go home too. We waved them off with a hug and closed the door as Dan and Phil said they would stay for dinner but then leave.

(Gemma's POV)

Sophie set them up playing Sonic on the Xbox as we went to cook dinner. As I flipped the pages of the cookbook, Sophie told me not to bother. I looked at her confused.

"W- I know a recipe of by heart," Sophie said. "I've had plenty of practise."

I knew she nearly said 'we' but I ignored it, choosing instead to follow her instructions.

*************

"There!" Sophie said happily, placing the lasagne in the oven, closing the door.

I sighed contentedly. "What do we do now?" I asked.

"We make the dessert," Sophie said, looking evilly excited at my worn face.

We set about making coffee and walnut cake, finishing by placing it in the oven. We had timed it to perfection - the lasagne and the cake now needed exactly the same amount of time to bake.

"Good god," I muttered, flopping down on a chair in the lounge. "I am absolutely worn out."

Sophie chuckled. "We bake all the time," she said. I raised an eyebrow. She smirked.

"When we have guests," Sophie finished. "If not, we order Dominos pizza."

When the timer went off, Sophie set everything up as I went to drag the boys to dinner. I wasn't met with much resistance, as the smell of lasagne and cake drafted mouth-wateringly through the apartment.

After dinner (during which Dan and Phil thanked us before leaving) Sophie decided it was time to practise our fighting. She thought me what I had forgotten.

*Doorbell*

I opened the door and blushed. Dan and Phil stood there, and I was wearing a tank top and tight leggings which I could move easily in. Plus, I was sweating slightly, and my hair was in a messy ponytail.

"Umm... Hey?" I greeted them.

"Sorry, I forgot my phone," Dan said as I moved to let him in. We entered the lounge, and Sophie said hello as well.

"Hey, don't go just yet," Sophie said as Dan picked his phone up. "Watch what Gemma's just rem- learned to do."

I sighed, and flicked my wrists, ready to show them my latest move.

As they stood at the edge of the room, I put my arms straight out in front of me. Suddenly, I twisted, throwing myself into the air whilst swishing the knives behind and in front of me before landing gracefully like a cat. Dan and Phil applauded, but a door next to me suddenly burst off its hinges, catapulting towards me before I could do anything.

The next minute, I was in Dan's arms. He had grabbed me, pulling me out of harms way. I blushed furiously, thanking him as he set me back on my feet.

Then... Images, flashing in front of my eyes. I sunk to the ground shaking, as I saw a minute version of me whacking a dummy with wooden sticks next to tiny Sophie.

A dark room, a table filled with people, their faces shrouded in hoods.

My pretend mom and dad, applauding as I finished my first ever fighting competition, coming first with Sophie second as we had to play rock-paper-scissors to decide the winner.

Leaving school, hugging old friends, skipping off with Sophie, finally free.

Sitting in the very lounge I was in right now, talking to a camera, prepared to put it on YouTube.

Crying as Sophie was taken the infirmary after an accident, even though she was fine, just a bash to the head which needed checking on.

Watching my elder brother stuttering, telling us he had his first girlfriend.

Speaking in a church, representing the school at a Carol service about depression.

Bumping into Dan, the excitement that stopped me from breathing.

Screaming with Sophie, leaping all over the place when Dan followed us on twitter.

Gaining 500,000 subscribers, going skydiving to celebrate.

Planning a 'million subscriber' video, as Sophie and I were very close to hitting the million mark.

"Gemma?!" Sophie asked, shaking me.

"I remember," I said hollowly. "I remember everything."

A/N: hope you liked this and whatever. I've been busy trying to juggle three things due in for tomorrow. One, I've done, one I've half done and one I haven't. It'll do, I guess. Not like I'm going to be expelled, so it doesn't matter, I'm a teachers pet :)

FYI: in my world, that door was the one Sophie hid in, but it was forced shut at an awkward angle afterwards or something so that's why it broke :)
