(Jason's POV)
"E-Ethan-n?!" I sobbed, looking into his still face. I let my hand wander down to his neck.
There was no pulse.
No throbbing life beneath my fingers.
"E-E-Ethan?!" I gasped out, trailing my fingers to rest them on top of his heart. "Ethan... P-please!"
"Come here." Caspar was behind me and he picked up my hand, placing my fingers over Ethan's neck. Waiting, trembling, anticipating that heartbeat was so hard, so very hard.
Especially... Especially when it didn't come.
"Like this." Caspar whispered, pressing my first two fingers firmly into his neck about two centimetres over.

Ba dum.
The simple throb against my fingers sent a wave of relief and pure happiness to my heart. The tears flowed as I cradled Ethan's head, sobbing into his shoulder. "Will he be okay?" I gasped out.
"Absolutely fine, hopefully." David's groggy voice made me snap around and I launched myself at him, flinging my arms around his shoulders as he rocked me comfortingly.
"Thank you so, so, so much." I cried.
"Hush, it's fine." David gave me back to Caspar as he tried to sooth me.

(Gemma's POV)
I watched, smiling, as Jason had a similar reaction to that of my own a short while ago. Our dear friends had carried us in one by one to tell us the good news. I was first to find out about half an hour ago, then Sophie followed by Luke.
Jason went last because he, oddly, seemed the most traumatised by it, but it was understandable. Out of all of us, Jason was probably the one who had seen the most death and deception.
"It's okay, ssh." Caspar whispered to Jason as he clung onto Ethan's hand while sobbing into Caspar's chest. "Just calm down, really, I'm not very good at this."
"Y-you're g-great." Jason muttered, wiping his eyes. "Ugh, sorry."
"You're seriously apologising?" Marcus came to help Caspar out. "Dude, you're taking this really well in some kind of odd logic."
