Ch. 49: Go

You loved him, you really did. You loved Dark, and you loved Mark. And now they were both gone. Taken right before your eyes.
Why me?
Why is it me that has to be left behind?
Tears streamed down your face. You wanted to leave, run away. There was nothing left for you. You gave Dark's demon body one more look, and then started running. Out of the house, across the street, towards a different place. Destination: anywhere but here.

You ran through countless streets, past what felt like thousands of houses, almost bumping into several people on the way. You were crying, screaming, and actually out of breath too, but you kept running, until you reached a forest. It seemed huge, and you knew that's where you wanted to go. You kept running, on and on and on, until the exhaustion took over and you fell over, right into a puddle of mud.

Your chest hurt a lot from all the running, your breathing was heavy. You looked around, as the pain in your throat was getting worse and you needed some water. Right now nothing could scare you anymore. You had seen it all. You, who once seemed a regular girl, had seen nightmares come to life, fought demons, and had seen all her loved ones die. Death would probably be the only way for you to be reunited with them again, but you knew that wasn't what you were going to do, since you knew that wasn't what they would've wanted.
You suddenly noticed how beautiful the place was around you. You had ended up in a tiny open spot in the forest. There was a small lake, with one willow tree by the side.

You were still crying, went to sit under the willow tree, not caring about anything anymore. In your reflection in the lake you saw the way you looked, mud all over your face and tear streams on your cheeks. After drinking a bit of water the water started moving, like you remembered the water from the nightmare/dream worlds doing. It made an image of you, standing with all the people you had lost. Dark and Mark were standing on either sides of you, smiling happily. Sean, Felix, and Ellen were standing around that, looking as ridiculous as they possibly could. And around that was your dead family. Your parents (and siblings/pet, if you have those), were standing there, smiling. You smiled as you teared up (again). Then the realization hit you. The water in the dream worlds changed because Dark had manipulated it to do so. So that meant-
