Chapter 31: Guardian Angel

Chapter 31  

Ocean still wouldn't tell me who it was that could open veil into Summerland even after promising that I wouldn't be as stubborn as I had been. Ashley's mom was the one who actually got the glass out of my foot and then pretty much told us if we didn't get any sleep she would tie us down and shove sleeping pills down our throats. Aiden still hadn't showed up and everyone told me not to worry about it but I really needed to talk to the kid. Collin and Ocean actually fought over who would watch over me to make sure I didn't run off again. Ocean won only after Ashley distracted Collin.

"I'm not going to sleep if you're not. It wouldn't be fair." I said  

"That's the point of a look out their supposed to watch over the others."  

"Ok but we're not in war and you know what happened."  

"Just go to sleep."  

"Nope!" I said witch was a bad idea since he come over to my side and pushed my shoulder down onto the bed.  

"Sleep." He said.  

"No, you can't make me sleep if I don't want to."  

"I thought you said you wouldn't be stubborn anymore."  

"No I said I wouldn't if you told me about this women but you won't therefor I'm going to be stubborn."  

"Ronnie..."  

"I'm not going to run off again."  

"Here's your panda now go to sleep."  

"I'm not a little kid Ocean!"  

"Stop being so stubborn."  

"No." I told him folding my arms across my chest.  

"What is it going to take to get you to go to sleep?" He asked and I just glared at him. "Fine. Scoot over."  

I moved over and he sat down facing me.  

"Her name was... is Jessica. She used to go to Marroquin high just like us....."  

"Is that how you know her?"  

"No. She used to go to school with Lysander before he dropped out. My parents didn't know about it but Ly and she were dating, that's how I knew her. He would bring her over a few days a week. When my mom learned that she had certain powers, she started helping Jess with them."  

"So she's a witch?" I asked  

"Yes she's a witch and there was assumption that her father was something else."  

"Something else?"  

"Most witches can't open the veil to Summerland unless they are either very powerful or one parent is.. is an immortal."  

"You mean like a vampire?"  

"No, immortals don't drink blood, they just don't die."  

"So immortals can open the portal?"  

"Yes."  

"Ok so I guess we need to find her."  

"Yes but there's where it gets complicated. I haven't seen or spoken to her since they broke up which was right after my parents death and right before Ly dropped out."  

"Well if she went to the high school back home then they must have records, and if she was in school when Lysander was that means she was around the same age."  

"So"  

"Lysander is college age which means this Jessica is to."  

"There are a thousand universities out there."
