Chapter 33: Falling Slowly

The last few days went by without incident, Pete and Allison were always out at work. That left Mike, Jessica, Eli, Aiden, Ashley, Collin, Ronnie and I inside the house to do whatever. We only had a couple days left here and Ashley wanted to take all of us down to the beach today so here I was in Ronnie's room trying to wake her up.  

"It's eight in the morning....go away!" She mumbled from under the pillow.  

"It's eight thirty to be exact!" I told her as I pulled the pillow from her head "and Ashley wants to leave by nine so better get up."  

I left the room and found my way into the kitchen where the rest of the gang was sitting. "Tell me again why I had to wake her."  

"Ronnie's like a vampire when it smells blood, if anyone wakes her up before she wants to get up there'll be blood." Collin said grabbing a pancake from the plate in the middle of the table. "Trust me that's where I got this!" he said bringing up his arm. "A few years ago there were a bunch of break ins, Ronnie started to sleep with a knife under her pillow and well one day I went to wake her, she thought I was a thief and slashed me."  

"So again why send me?"  

"She seems to be less violent when you're around." Ashley said this time "And since she's not yelling at you right now it means I'm right."  

"Right about what?" A female voice asked from behind me. Ronnie came into the kitchen wearing a purple Sleeping with Sirens tank, black shorts that come just below her knees and grey shoes.  

"Ronnie we're going to the beach not the Warped Tour!" Ashley said throwing up her hands. I was leaning against the island watching the two girls have their argument  

"Don't fight with me Ashley, it's too early." she said glaring to the blonde who only glared back.  

"Fine wear what you want. Are you going to eat anything?" She asked. Ronnie grabbed a plate from the cabinet and sat down at the table.  

It was after nine by the time we all were in the cars. Mike, Jessica, and Eli were in Mike's car up front, Collin, Ashley, Ronnie and I were in Collin's truck next and Aiden was driving his car behind. It wasn't that long before we reached the parking lot and the sigh that came from behind me suggested that Ashley wasn't happy about something.  

"See this is why I wanted to leave before nine now we're not going to find a good spot." She said stepping out of the truck  

"Babe chill, its fine." Collin told her  

"No it's not if Ronnie hadn't taken forever...." 

"If I remember correctly you guys didn't wake me till eight thirty, so if we're blaming people blame yourself." Ronnie told the girl as she pulled the beach chair out of the bed of the truck.  

"Can you two not get into it today?" Aiden asked helping Collin with the ice cooler  

"She started it! She's been pissed at me since yesterday!" Ronnie mumbled under her breath so low no one else heard her but me. Mike then grabbed the last two chairs and we all began walking to the sand.  

I could remember the last time I was here, it was just as packed as it is now the only difference was it was during the summer not spring break. Kids ran around throwing a Frisbee back and forth, multiple genres of music flowed from Ipods decked into speakers, older college kids drank from beer cans and some parent was yelling at two red heads who looked bored out of their minds.
