Chapter 20

"Knock Knock" I heard coming from my closed door. I put the diary off to the side and pretended I was working on my homework. I knew it was Dave just by the way he knocked on my door and of course well I could read his mind.

"Ronnie can I come in?" I heard him speak through the wood.

"No." I thought but it wasn't going to help, he opened my door anyhow and came and sat on my bed behind me. I didn't turn around, I wasn't speaking to him.

"How long are you going to do this?" He asked me. I could tell he wasn't angry just by his tone but it had a bit of sadness to it. "Ronnie I'm sorry. I wanted to tell you....you know your mother and how stubborn she is. She wanted to tell you after your birthday and I just thought that it wasn't my place..."

I threw my pen onto my desk.

"Wasn't your place? I'm your daughter and you lied to me!" I said still not looking at him.

"God I'm your daughter!" I thought

I heard him sigh then he started talking again.

"Ronnie I know you're upset, I know you're angry at me and that saying I'm sorry probably is not helping any but you need to understand that what we did, keeping this from you and your brother." he stopped "we thought it was the best thing. You were so young when Ryan left you and...."

"Just Stop!" I said "You keep making it sound like that was your only option."

"I know that this doesn't make any sense and that you're confused and...."

"Yeah, you know what..... I am. I don't understand how you and her could hide this from me and Milo for that matter. You had time to tell us....you could have told me that day my mother brought you home or the day we went to the beach any of those days and yet you didn't. You let us believe that our mother was just dating our dad's best friend." I said taking a breath after I finished.

"You never liked me Ronnie. That first day I came over all of us were there but you....you had made some excuse not to be there and every plan we had made to go or do something as a family you made an excuse."

"Yeah I guess I was right about not liking you....your a liar Dave and you've lied to me for 18 years!"

"Ronnie"

"No let me finish....Dave." I turned my chair around to face him "You don't get to come into my room and sit on my bed and tell me your sorry. You don't get to tell me that it wasn't your place to tell me that I was your daughter. You don't have the right to say your sorry or that you understand what I'm going through. YOU didn't raise me, in fact you let me be raised my a man who ran out on us and afterward you never showed up." I laughed.

"I might be your daughter." I stood up "But you...are not..my father!" I could see the hurt in his eyes but I could have cared less about his feelings. I could feel tears being to form but I wasn't going to let them fall. "You can leave now!" I said pointing to the door across the room with one hand while the other landed on my hip. He stood in front of me and began to leave

"I hope one day...you'll forgive me!" he said then walked to my door "The dress is nice by the way! You'll look pretty in it" his hand was on the door nob when I turned to see the dress I brought for the Founders' Dance handing on my bathroom door but when I turned back around he was gone and my door was shut.

I went over to my stereo, turned it on and turned it up to loud. I then grabbed my phone and sent a text to my best friend.

"Hey if your father would to say something is nice and that you would look pretty in it what would you do?" I typed and hit sent. I looked over to the dress hanging not causing any harm. My phone buzzed a few moments later
