Insecurities, and then the bad boy

Chapter 6- Hurt

My mom stands their with a belt. She has never hurt me unless it was a slap. But she's going to hurt me real bad. She walks over to me with a cold expression. She takes the belt and slashes it across my shoulder. I cry silently as she does another on my back.

Then she does it on my leg and I fall over. She puts the belt on the table and looks at me.

Mom: "Pathetic. Go to your room now!" She screams in my ear.

I get up and fall over which causes my mom to laugh. Then I get up and half run half limp to my room.

I start to cry really bad as I look at the mark on my shoulder. My shoulder is red and a little blood drips from my leg. I continue to cry and then look over at my window which is open. I then see a familiar face staring at me with a blank face. Jason.

I quickly shut the blinds and go into my bathroom. I had taken my sweatshirt off to see the mark so I only had a bra on. I dabbed my shoulder and leg with water. My back hurt to just not as much.

Winter: "I-I j-j-just can't be-believe sh-she did that." I started crying harder until I heard our doorbell. It's probably just one of moms "friends".

A minute later I hear a knock on my door.

Jason's P.O.V-

I don't know why but ever since we studied together I feel a pull towards her. I don't know why though. When I heard her mom I knew she wasn't drunk. Now I'm getting suspicious of Ms.Anderson.

I saw some movement out of the comer of my eye when I was walking to Garret, my friends house. I look over and see Winter crying and examining her shoulder. I can't really see her shoulder that good right now but I can tell it's red.

I wonder why? And why is she sobbing? Is this from her mom?

She looks over and freezes. Then she shuts her blinds really quick. I run up to her door and ring the doorbell. Her mom appears and gives me an obviously fake smile.

Jason: "Hey, I know Winter just saw me like an hour and a half ago but can I see her?"

Ms.Anderson: "I'm sorry but she's sleeping. She is not feeling well."

Jason: "I have to ask her a question, please?"

Ms.Anderson: "No." but I don't listen to her and run upstairs. I don't know which room is her but then I hear crying and knock on the door that I hear it from. The crying stops.

Winter: "I'm coming mom." She opens the door in her bra and shorts. She gasps and closes the door.

Jason: "Winter! Your shoulder! And your leg! Oh my god."

Dang, I was right. She's way too skinny. She needs to eat more.

Jason: "Winter please let me in." I try to open the door but it's locked. I don't hear any sound from inside. As I keep trying to open the door I hear footsteps coming up.

Ms.Anderson: "Clearly she doesn't want to see you so go." I look at her with a mean expression and she takes a step back. Then she points down the stairs so I go.

Right before I shut the door I hear a 'Ow!' From Winter. I think her mom is abusive. I just can't believe it. She gets pushed around at school and her mom hurts her. Now I feel super bad for her and a little guilty for tripping her and being mean to her before school.

I walk to Garrets house and tell him everything that just happened.
