TWELVE

                             Mitch

"Can we see Maddy Crosby?" I asked the nurse at the front.

"Um sorry only family are allowed to see her right now" She said.

"But we are her best friends" I pledged to her.

"I don't care now take a seat and wait until I let you in!" She raised her voice a little as I rolled my eyes at her.

"Babe don't get pissed" Ally whispered in my ear.

William, Ally and I waited in the waiting room until we were allowed to see Maddy.

I'm hoping she's okay.

This is not Maddy's fault.

If Lauren didn't send those messages then this would not have happened.

I don't know but I have a feeling that this incident isn't all about the messages.

I also feel like it's about Connor.

"Okay so am allowing only one of you guys to see her" The lady came up to us.

We just stared at each other.

"Mitch you should go first" William said.

"Why me?"

"Because you are the closest to Maddy plus you've known her longer" Ally said.

I stood up and followed the lady to Maddy's room.

I opened the door and saw Sidney sitting down next to his dad both looking at Maddy.

Maddy was lying on the hospital bed with all these different wires on her.

She was wearing one of those masks that help you breathe.

Sidney and his dad both looked at me as I entered.

"Thank goodness you're here" Sidney said giving me a hug.

"Yeah Ally and William are outside because we were told only one at a time" I said to them.

"I will get them" Sidney said.

"Thanks for coming" he whispered in my ear before leaving.

I know how much this means to Sidney.

Maddy was the only person Sidney cared about.

He would guard Maddy with his whole life.

The bond that Maddy and Sidney has was inseparable.

"Thanks for coming Mitch" Mr. Crosby says giving me a hug.

"No problem I came here to see my best friend" I said.

I wanted them to know that not only did I come here because they told me too but because Maddy is my best friend and I deeply care about her.

Maddy's like the sister that i've never had.

"Is she waking up?" I asked him.

"Nope not yet but I bet if our talk to her then she might wake up" Mr Crosby says as I walk up to Maddy.

I pulled up a chair and sat down next to her.

"Hey Mads" I said as I look at her.

Sidney, Ally and William walked in but I didn't really pay attention to them.

I talked to her like it was just us.

"Maddy I know you probably can't hear this, you are that one friend who stayed by my side during high school. You were there when I had my first date, first girlfriend, first heartbreak, you were there through everything. I want you to still be here when I get married, when I have kids, when I die, I want you to be here like you have been for the past 6 years. Maddy please don't leave me here, I need you and you need me, we need each other. Please just wake up, I love you" I cried out.

I placed my hands next to her as I looked at the ground.

I can hear the people around me crying also.

I then feel a touch on my hand.

I look to see Maddy moving her hand on mine.

"MADDY!" I said as I look at her.

She opened her eyes slowly and looked at me.

"Mitch?"

Everyone gathered around me are we looked at Maddy.

"Where am I?"

"You're in the hospital Mads" Sidney said.

"I'll call the doctor and tell him she's awake" Ally said before walking out the room.

"I missed you so much" Sidney hugged her.

"Don't do that again" He warned her.

"I promise" she says.

"Besides why did you try to kill yourself?" William asked.

"Long story, i'll tell you guys later" Maddy says.

"I'm so happy you're alive" I hugged her.

"I heard what you said" she whispered in my ear.

I looked at her hoping she was about to say something good.

"I'm glad I can call you my best friend and don't worry i'll never leave you because it's true that we need each other" she says as I have the biggest smile on my face.

"I love you so much" I say to her.

"I love you too Mitch" she says back.

I'm glad my best friend is okay.
