TWENTY FOUR

"So explain why you two are here?" Ally asked Mitch and I.

"No I think the real question is why are you here?" Mitch fired back.

"It's none of your business" Ally says crossing her arms.

"Ally who is that man?" Mitch stepped closer to her.

"I-I can't say" I can imagine what the both of them are thinking about.

"Ally are you cheating on me?" Mitch asked as Ally looked at him a little shocked.

"Cheating? Mitch are you questioning my trust?" Ally was hurt and I can tell both are fighting tears.

"Well you won't tell me about that guy" Ally then slapped him right on the face.

I was shocked to see my two best friends fighting.

"Mitch you are being stubborn"

Mitch looked pissed that Ally slapped him, he was still holding his cheek.

"Ally I don't like that you slapped me but I'm more mad that you lied to me" Mitch said calmly.

"What are you saying?"

"Ally i'm saying that I can't deal with this anymore...We are done" Mitch said as tears fall from both of their faces.

"Fine! When the apartment is cleaned up I want you to pack all your stuff" Ally said.

"I guess this is goodbye"

"Goodbye Mitch" Ally says before walking into the restaurant.

Did I just witness my two best friends break up.

"Guess i'm staying at your place for a bit" Mitch said as I pulled him in for a hug.

"It's okay Mitch i'm always here for you" I reminded him.

"Bestie" I said as he smiled a little.

"Bestie"

We hear a honk coming from the street.

We see Connor park the car.

"Hey what's the matter?" Connor asked as Mitch and I got in the car.

"Long story" I said as I put on my seat belt.

I told Connor the full story as we drove back home.

"And she broke it off like that?" Connor asked as I nodded my head.

"I don't know what to do with Ally now. She's my best friend too" I said as we got out the car.

I opened the front door and went straight to the kitchen.

"I'm going to bed" Mitch said as he slowly walked to the guest room which he has been staying in for a couple of days.

I grabbed a glass and a bottle of wine.

I poured the wine and quickly drank it.

"Woah slow down" Connor says entering the kitchen.

"Sorry I do this when i'm stressed" I said.

"Isn't this Sidney's wine?" Connor asked raising the bottle up.

"Yeah just don't tell him I drank it" I said finishing my glass.

I then hear my phone ringing from my pocket.

I took it out and read the caller id.

"It's Ally" I said as I answered it.

"Hey Ally how are you holding up?" I asked her.

"Hey Maddy i'm fine" I can tell she has been crying.

"So why did you call?"

"Maddy i'm moving back home to Toronto" Ally says I just stood there not knowing what to do.

"When?"

"Tonight. I bought a plane ticket"

"Do you want me to come over and help you pack?" I ask her. I want to at least see her before she leaves.

"I'm actually at the airport already. I board in 20 minutes" she says as I frowned.

"Oh" I said.

"Yeah i'm sorry I didn't properly say goodbye to you" She apologizes.

"Don't apologize to me you are the one that just got dumped" I said.

"Well I guess this is goodbye" she trails off.

"Hey when I go up there in Toronto i'll call you so we can hang" I said to her hopefully that cheers her up.

"I like that"

"Well goodbye Ally, have a safe flight" I said.

"Goodbye Maddy. Promise me one thing, take care of Mitch for me?".

"Promise" I smiled into the phone.

I ended the call as Connor looked at me.

"So she left?" He asked as I just took a deep breath and nodded.

He pulled me in for a hug.

What an exhausting night.
