Chapter 12 - I want to be friends again

Then someone grabbed my arm from behind me and I was pulled into a side room.

Ron's POV
I don't know what I was thinking when I came up behind Hermione and grabbed her arm. But by then it was too late, I had already done it. I pulled her into the nearest side room, luckily it was empty. I regretted doing it almost as soon as I did it. 

"Uh, Hermione." I said. She jumped around as soon as I let her go, pulling her wand out in a quick movement but then she saw it was me and put her arm down by her side. But she didn't put it away completely, she was still on edge. 

"What Ron?" She said, she was watching my face intently. I felt my face flush under her intense gaze. "Hello, Ron? Ronald?" I shook myself out of my reverie. Her face was hard, she was definitely not particularly happy to see me. 

"I want to be friends again, just friends. I want to forget about that whole dating/marriage bit." I said, I looked down at the floor, I scuffed my shoes along the floor. I felt her hand on the side of my face, lifting my eyes to hers. Her face had softened, she was even smiling. 

"Ok, Ron. If it means we can be friends again, I do miss our friendship. But you have to learn to deal with the fact that I'm dating Draco." She said. I couldn't help but pull a face at Draco's name, it was instinct after so many years of disliking him. Her face hardened again and she took a step back away from me.

"Sorry. Sorry, I'll learn to deal with it. I promise. For you, I will." I said. She smiled and I smiled back and we headed towards the dormitory together. 

As we headed back to the dormitory together, we made normal small talk. Not the small talk of two people that used to date, that have a child together and nearly got married. When we reached the Gryffindor tower, I said the password "Unicorn hair." And the fat lady swung open, inside the common room there was people sat around chatting as normal. We hugged and I headed towards the boy stairs and she headed the opposite direction, towards the girl stairs. 

Ginny's POV
"Somethings happened." Harry murmured in my ear, looking at Hermione and Ron chatting happily just down the breakfast table. "They are being civil. They're talking to each other and not arguing." He shook his head, seeming utterly confused, we had definitely missed out on something there.

"Maybe they talked, sorted it out. They are adults now and they have to act like it." I replied, reasonably. I smiled at Harry's puzzled expression. He looked so cute, in that moment, that I lent over and gave him a kiss on the mouth. I felt his face freeze with shock before he lent in to the kiss. After a couple seconds, I pulled away and turned, giving him a mouthful of my bright ginger hair. I saw the looks of shock down the table at our kiss. It was well known that we were dating, but most of the time we kept any signs of affection private. And the look of absolute horror on Ron's face made me laugh. We didn't normally kiss in front of him either. And I could tell he was glad about it, from just one look at his face. 

I heard him muttering something about his friend and sister kissing, a disgusted look on his face. And when I turned back to look at Harry, it was him that caught me off guard this time. Placing a quick, soft kiss on my lips. And at the look of shock on my face, he smirked, obviously very pleased with himself.

Draco's POV
I woke up, as I opened my eyes I felt the press of cold sheets around me. I rolled, reaching my hand out for Hermione then I realised she wasn't there. Oh we were back at school. I had forgotten, sadness washed over me as I felt her absence. I slid out of bed, shaking the sleep out of my head, messing my hair up. A cold breeze nipped at my ankles as I stood up and pushed my feet into my emerald green slippers. I shuffled to the end of my bed and pulled out my school robes. I put them on and just as I clipped on my cloak, the other boys in the dormitory began to wake up around me. Taking my wand from the bedside table I left the room, heading to the Great Hall for breakfast. As I walked in through the open doors. I noticed Hermione and Ron chatting and I felt a pain in my heart, they had made up then. I sat down at the Slytherin table facing towards the Gryffindor table. As I started eating some toast, I saw in my peripheral vision Ginny and Harry kissing. It caused a commotion at the Gryffindor table. But no one else seemed to care. Hermione was laughing, the sound of it warmed my heart and Ron's face was hilarious, I had to hold in a chuckle.

I left the hall going towards the Transfiguration classroom. I was excited at the thought of being near Hermione again, to be able to see her again. As I waited outside others began to arrive, I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see Hermione, when I smiled she smiled too and stood on her tiptoes to kiss me. Then she pulled back and gave me a little wave as she headed over to Harry and Ron. About 5 minutes before the lesson started, Blaise, Crabbe, Goyle and Pansy showed up. They walked up to me and as soon as Pansy got close, she looped her arm through mine. I knew this was a sign I was forgiven, they would accept me back into the group. Blaise slapped me on the back. 

"Welcome back, mate." Crabbe and Goyle were silent, they obviously didn't approve of this, though I had chosen to be friends with them in the first place. Ignoring them, and their silence, I chatted to Blaise and Pansy. I began to notice Blaise and Pansy's closeness. They kept glancing at each other as if checking for approval for everything they said. And then the door opened and we entered. Inside our animals were on our desks. Mine was a White Minx Cat with startling green eyes. It had been a present of my father and so I had named her Delphini. She was extremely hard to catch, she often could be found slinking around the castle. Always hiding in dark corners so I hardly saw her, even though she was my pet. I sat at my desk in between Pansy and Blaise. Delphini studied me with her dark eyes, the green was so dark it was almost completely black. Pansy had an unusual black owl which had grey eyes, she had named Midnight. Blaise had a tawny owl with green eyes named Emerald. McGonagall stood at the front with a large black bird, she gave her lecture quickly and concisely as she always did. Then she told us the incantation. 

"Fera verto." She said, tapping the bird with her wand and then the bird turned into a golden goblet. There were mumbles of 'Fera verto' as people tried to do the spell. I murmured it and my cat turned into a silver goblet I saw Weasley do it and his rat turned into a furry goblet with a tail. I laughed and so did some other Slytherins. I then heard a voice behind me. 

"Draco." They said, I turned to see Snape behind me with a stern look on his sharp face.
