Harry's POV
I opened my eyes, they were still fuzzy with sleep but I could see Ginny asleep in the bed beside me. I rolled over to look at the alarm clock, 8 o'clock in the morning on the 31st July. My 18th birthday, it seemed strange that I was now a legal adult. Nobody was awake yet to wish me a happy birthday but it was nice for me to spend the first part of my birthday on my own, sometimes I could do with the space to think. Especially today as everyone would be so focused on me because it was my birthday, I would barely get a moment to think away from everyone else. I could also apparate now and I wouldn't need to rely on anyone else like I had for so long. But there was somewhere I wanted to walk to first, scooping up The Invisibility Cloak from beside the bed, I wrapped it around me and headed downstairs. I pushed open the front door and stood on the steps, I could hear the cars whizzing by at the end of this street on the main road. I could hear birds twittering from the trees on the patch of grass across the road. The sky was clear and I could tell already it was going to be a beautiful day. The sun rising in the sky and the sky so blue and nearly cloudless.
I went back inside and headed back upstairs, I dropped The Invisibility Cloak back where it had been sat for months. There was very little chance of me going back to sleep now I was awake, especially with Ginny's heavy breathing beside me. I decided to get ready for the day instead. I grabbed the first outfit I came across and headed to the bathroom. With Ginny cleaning it every week, for some reason, it was now so much cleaner than it had ever been before which made it much nicer to have a shower in everyday. When I was ready, I unlocked the door again and went back into the bedroom dumping my pyjamas on my side of the bed. I went to turn away before deciding to fold them because I knew how to fold and I might as well use that skill. Many evenings with Petunia had seen to that.
I went back downstairs, when I had first come down I hadn't heard anyone talking so I presumed that there was still nobody downstairs. However, I pushed the kitchen door open to find everyone gathered around the kitchen table, a birthday cake sat in the middle. Even Ginny who I had thought was still asleep, I hadn't realised the heavy breathing had stopped when I went back in after my shower. Hagrid was also there but due to the neatness of the cake, I had a slight feeling it wasn't him who had made it this year. That memory of 7 years ago brought a smile to my face, it seemed so long ago. They all burst into happy birthday while I had to stand there awkwardly in the doorway watching them.
"Thank you, I didn't realise anyone was awake yet." I responded.
"Of course we were, it's your birthday. We wouldn't forget that, especially as it's your 18th." Hermione said, she was cradling Willow in her arms. I didn't suppose she would let her out of her sight much anymore because she would be too scared to lose her again. Hagrid looked at me with a smile. He pulled a slightly crushed cardboard box out of the pocket of his coat.
"Happy 18th birthday Harry! And you didn't think I wouldn't make you a cake for your 18th birthday, Harry?" Hagrid asked, with a smile.
"Thank you, Hagrid." I said. He handed me the box, I opened it and it was the same as the cake for my 11th birthday. A chocolate cake with pink icing and iced in green letters 'Happee Birthdae Harry'. It almost brought a tear to my eye that memory and this new one. I pulled Hagrid into a tight hug, he hugged me back. Then I took a step back. "Thank you for the birthday cake, although I'm not sure it is the healthiest to eat for breakfast. I'm thinking I'll maybe save that for later and I might just get myself some cereal for now."
"Well, obviously Harry." Ginny said. She came up and pressed a kiss on my cheek. "I need to go shower and then I vote you open your presents." She said, leaving the kitchen before anyone had a chance to respond.
"You can open them whenever you want Harry, you don't have to listen to what Ginny says, if you don't want to." Mrs Weasley said, taking the box from my hand and putting it on the side with the cake she must have made. I hadn't noticed Draco at first with the others around the table, I hadn't thought of him as much of a singer but there he was now going to get himself some cereal with the others. I joined them, picking out a bowl from the cupboard then making up my bowl of cereal.
Ginny returned just as I finished my cereal, her ginger hair now sleek and straight. She was wearing a purple t-shirt and some ripped jeans.
"I don't think I will ever get over how fast you get ready Ginny, I thought girls were meant to take ages to get ready." I said, putting my dishes into the sink.
"Well I'm not your typical girl, Harry, as you should know." She replied and this time she came over and pressed a quick kiss on my lips, as she wrapped her arms around me. "Are you excited to be 18?" She asked, resting her head against my neck.
"I suppose." I said with a smirk. "The fact I'm now a legal adult and can make my own decisions is very appealing, especially after all these years where I haven't had any choice in what I do or where I go."
